Not sure how this road got its name but the sign has been true for a couple of weeks now! Last Friday we had a snow squall pass through the area. Tonight into tomorrow we are experiencing an ice storm with some light snow passing through Friday. I know a lot of the US is experiencing winter weather this weekend. I hope everyone is staying safe and warm!

Exposure overlap. Happy Accident? Broken Camera, stuck film what else could happen. I think I got lucky. I like the outcome and I got a replacement for my camera for free!

Snowy Christmas Eve...

It started snowing at around 5;00 Thursday night Christmas Eve... and snowed all night into Christmas morning .. getting up with a fresh blanket of snow that made everything beautiful and white.

Unfortunately i was too busy with all the usual Christmas morning preparations and with six video calls to family scheduled all over the world i knew it would be impossible to get out and take any photos.

So the night before Karen and I ventured out to get some snowy night shots.

Edited in Prisma app with Thota Vaikuntam for Sliders Sunday. Bayside, Queens, NYC — February 4, 2023

My original photo was a spontaneous handheld iPhone shot. I think I did a pretty good job of holding still through the long exposure, but not good enough to capture the details of the clouds and halo around the almost-full moon. The iPhone night mode comes out too light, and the colors get saturated when the exposure is toned down. Still, i liked the Van Gogh-like colors of the sky. Finally, I thought this would be a good subject for the Prisma AI app, and was pleased to see what several did with moon and sky. This was my favorite. Perfect for Sliders Sunday.

A forgotten stop sign in the forest at Arkansas’ Star of the West Public Use Area along the shore of Lake Greeson.

Don't speed through the cacti. Winding route ahead.

Mammatus clouds/storm at sunset, high plains of northeast New Mexico. Shot pretty quickly after pulling off the paved highway and onto a gravel crossroad. The raindrops were already starting to fall - cold and heavy. I stepped out of my vehicle, took this shot, and I bailed!

Harding County, New Mexico, USA

Camera: Fujifilm X-T5

Lens: Tamron 18-300 mm

Settings: ISO 160, f/10, 1/40s, 28 mm

Shot handheld.

Near Pearsonville. Highway 395 at top of image. Old miner's shack. I sit in wonderment knowing that these folks put up with bitter cold in winter and sizzling hot in summer. Seeking their fortune by digging into the hills.

HFF 😊😊😍
