Road crew installing new stoplights at the intersection of Miller and Ballenger Road in Flint, Michigan. This is part of an epic project to overhaul all of Miller Road's length... it desperately needs it, what with all the potholes.

Today was hard. It has been unprecedentedly busy at work (or so they tell me; I apparently started in the busiest week, and then this week has been twice as busy) and that has me awfully overwhelmed, as I'm still learning and trying to keep up. Even wearing a dress! to work! and looking extremely cute didn't really help. But I had dinner with my family, and that helped, even if I never got around to taking a picture until my drive home. I do love how the kit lens makes bokeh.
I hooked GitHub's stoplight up to their build system via Arduino, some relays, and an ethernet shield. Read about the process here:

Leah and I decided that if we came across anyone wearing green, we'd have to take a photo as a stoplight. Conveniently, this girl was even wearing a sundress.
The other one has a top-down view of the peppers. I realize this isn't original, but I was just playing around with my new version of Photoshop Elements.

Last night was a joint birthday party for my friends Heather and Leigh Ann, and it was also a Stoplight party. At stoplight parties you're supposed to wear red if you're taken or married, yellow if you're "talking to someone", and green if you're single. Technically, the single people are supposed to bring along single friends, but it ended up just being our normal friends dressed in red, yellow, or green. Heh.

This image is from a series of screenshots taken within a Shared iOS Photostream my students and I use for the purpose of learning the classification and sight identification of Caribbean-region coral reef fish.
In the screenshots, you can clearly see the discussion time and date stamped. You'll see that I try to send new species to the Photostream at all times of the day. This does two things:
1) It allows students to take part whenever they are available to. And,
2) This has caused my students to keep their iPad and fish ID resources near them much more often. This is how memorization is best facilitated... in small chunks, and frequently.
