The peregrine falcon in a stoop is known to reach speed of up to 200 miles per hour. Watching and trying to get this type of image can be humbling. The mist of Niagara Falls was thick this weekend and the temperature was in the high 20's Celsius range.
This image is of the male falcon "Duncan" going into a stoop as he crossed a brilliant rainbow created by the mist of Niagara Falls.

He was sitting on the stoop. He was sitting in a daze. There was Bachata music and bass vibrating the floor, the side rails and his beer. People came in and out and moved around him like he was an island. It was early in the morning for me that day, but I could have understood how it could have been late in one’s night too. The editor sent me here and I knew no one. He looked like a cool dude, so I sat next to him, with my camera in my hand, and became an island too. I needed to find out some information before photographing the assignment.

when i was younger i didn't like the fall very much..i guess beause the fall means the end of summer and school.. wow... have things changed!!.. now i adore the fall and i adore the opportunities to learn and become more knowledgable and wiser.

Peregrin Falcon at the bottom of his dive ("Stoop").
They can reach speeds over 300kph and you can see that here panning with the dive at 1/2000" was not enough to freeze all the motion (although I think the blur in the wingtips gives a better impression of the speed involved)!
