Everybody says the same things to you

It's just a matter how you solve them

But what else are we supposed to do"

An 18thC guide stoop (guide post) on East Moor near Chesterfield. The spelling of the names of the towns and villages marked on it was usually left to the person who carved it.

This little cutie was on the back stoop eating some food I put there for the birds.

Remains of an old jetty being reclaimed by nature

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,

Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,

And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;

If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings

And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,

Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,

And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son.

didn't get a good flick of tis one so this will have to do..

Once a vibrant seeker of light, the sunflower now stands with a heavy, bowed head. Its stem, formerly a pillar of strength, is now frail and hunched, as if collapsing under the weight of its own memories.

The radiant yellow has bled out, leaving behind a spectral palette of ash-grey, muted sepia, and bone-white. This colorless state emphasizes a transition from life to a skeletal, paper-like remains.

The petals are no longer soft but brittle and curled, resembling aged parchment. The dark, hollow center looks like a "silent eye" that has stopped watching the sun.

While wandering around New Haven, CT, I ran across this. Thanks for stopping by.

A guide stoop in a remote location on Big Moor. This is only the broken-off top portion of the stone.

Some of the markings are a little unclear but read:

'Hoope Road', 'Chasterfeld Road', 'Tideswall Road' and 'Dronfeld Road'.

One of the 17thC Guide Stoops on Big Moor perhaps shownig what a busy and important place this was all those years ago.

April 2024 Krakow, Poland. This gentleman was taking up some rest time on this stoop. I bet he has some stories to tell. I've really liked the original edit, (posted in my photostream). I just had a thought of widening it and dropping some of the saturation and working through making it as sharp as I can without blowing it out. I think it came out nice. Enjoy. Edited with Adobe LR
