I'm always on the lookout for stink bugs these days! I want to find as many as possible. :D I've seen this one before though, but it's still a beautiful little bug!
The tail end (i.e. wingtips) of the stinkbug I first shot last week.

Family : Scutelleridae; Leach, 1815

Scutelleridae is a family of true bugs. They are commonly known as jewel bugs or metallic shield bugs due to their often brilliant coloration.
They are also known as shield-backed bugs due to the enlargement of the thoracic scutellum into a continuous shield over the abdomen and wings.

Just happened to see this stink bug in the process of molting. After it emerged from the shell, it slowly made a circle back around to face the exoskeleton it had just shed, stuck its head in and flipped the empty shell off the post. It remained in the same location for the rest of the day. By nightfall it had changed colors becoming much darker.

A congregation of Shield bug nymphs and adults on the underside of a leaf. There was one molting on the top right. Selangor, Malaysia. Cantao sp. possibly Cantao ocellatus (Thunberg, 1784).

Stinker on a Pea Pod. This is a shield bug or stink bug nymph. She tried to drip white stinker stuff on me while I was taking her photo. I call her she because the face on the shield looks female and is probably seductive to other stink bugs.

Green stink bugs have piercing mouthparts which they insert into the tomato. Then they use the tube to insert digestive juices into the tomato. They then suck out the digested tomato. This leaves a whitish area under the skin of the tomato.
By the way, stink bugs are poisonous if eaten...although I don't see how anyone could eat something that emits that sort of smell!!!
