On my bike with the Sony searching for some crocus yesterday. I found some nearby in a parc. There was some sunshine between the clouds so I gave it a try. And I used a new app to make some changes, its called enlight. So far I have been (not too much) using snapseed(i love it) and filterstorm (wich I find hard to work with). Sometimes I think a photo just needs a little touch up and I know that there are many photoshop users amongst you. I wish I was that smart with it but since I am only using my Ipad I have to use the apps available. I do have to use a computer to import the sony memorycard on my Ipad but then again I have a great help from my husband :-) i hope I have not overdone this one,if so please let me know. I still learning!

An evening in the heart of Mumbai.
To me, this shot in a lot of ways encapsulates the spirit of Mumbai: Fast paced, hectic, lots of taxis, lots of traffic, lots of old-world building and lots of life. :)

Mann's Angel
In 1834, Colonel Andrew Mann arrived from Connecticut. He was a building contractor and in 1835 he built a large brick hotel on the southwest corner of the Court House Square. It was first known as the Mann Hotel, and later as the National House Inn.
Mann's Hotel, as the local villagers called it, was formally opened on New Year's Eve 1836 with the first ball held in the city. It seems that this first celebration was only the beginning as the following April a soiree de dansante was held, the announcements printed in stylish French. On July 4, 1836, Independence Day was celebrated. According to local folklore, "the table was graced with roast pigs set every eight feet, flanked front and rear with bottles of French wine." These celebrations continued for some twenty years until 1855. The stagecoaches continued to stop for years to come...

ODC Numbers - The world of numbers from Little Globalnomad's perspective: her maths practise book to help her learn her times tables (she's had to jump a whole school year as a result of our move last summer, changing from one school system to another, so we've been doing catch up); learning to tell time the fun way; the contents page of her very own book guide book to the sites/sights of ancient Rome, which we did use a couple of times and found surprisingly useful.

This is just a quick time-lapse I did over at Tempe Town Lake back on July 3rd.
I am finding that in these time-lapses I feel as though I'm having to relearn everything I've ever known about photography as I am continually being challenged. It's been a struggle for me but I hope to keep on improving on my work with each one I produce.
In this time-lapse I found that I was able to keep the flicker down to what I believe to be an acceptable level for an amateur like myself. I've found that even with LRTimelapse I still struggle mightily with flicker. I know the main cause of the flicker is that I am still shooting these time-lapses in aperture priority mode instead of going full manual...I guess I just haven't taken that leap of faith yet into the full manual work of time-lapse photography. I also believe that my composition could have been much better as I did a poor job of setting up and capturing where the sun was actually setting in the frame as it's too far off to camera right that I missed out on a lot of good color in the sky.

i was up in the foothills taking some pictures of a covered wooden bridge, avoiding tourists and generally just relaxing ... it was a hot day and i was thirsty ... from a distance this fountain looked refreshing ... but as i got closer i saw there was already someone in line .... i went on to the next fountain for my drink.

View On Black is a bit better
My second attempt at this pano of the Swannery at Abbotsbury, my first never got this far as it was totally blown out on the left hand side due to the rising sun, this is better but I still have a long way to go, til I master this kind of shot.......but, it was fun trying :-))
12 Themes for 2013, February: After Dark
So....inspired by any number of awesome star shots here on Flickr, I have been wanting to try this for weeks. This is my best shot so far BUT was taken just as I was getting the hang of focusing in the dark and knowing where to point the camera, at which point my aged, cheap tripod, which has bits missing finally collapsed and gave up on me - the head snapped. Luckily I caught the camera. I can't wait to get the tripod replaced so I can have more fun with the amazing, starry skies we get here in rural New Zealand.
I was playing around with my camera today and found this digital zoom or maybe it was the fine zoom, not sure which, and this is what came out. I realize it is cropped (at the bottom) and off center, but I couldn't believe those wings! This is a mosquito, which to tell you the truth, I've never seen one up close like this before. That zoom is amazing on this camera!
Please view large or original to get the detail on those wings!
