Referee Skip Obermeyer prepares the USCF Midgets (looks like three of 'em) for the start of a race on a rainy day in April of 1978. (Or perhaps 1979.)
I joined the Kalamazoo Bicycle Club in September of 1973, and attended my first club meeting a few days later. That meeting was dominated by a proposal from T.J. (Jeff) Smith that the club join the Amateur Bicycle League of America (ABLA--later the United States Cycling Federation) and begin promoting races. The issue was not decided at that meeting, but in the spring of 1975 the club hosted an early-season racing series at Kalamazoo's Spring Valley Park. The series would continue for several years; for most of those years I was the race promoter. Our role on the Michigan USCF schedule was to provide early-season racing opportunities for the state's racers; our objective in Kalamazoo was, of course, to introduce the sport to the community. It was fun, and the riders seemed to enjoy the event, but staging four early-season races can be pretty hard on your volunteers.
My notes say the rider in the middle is a very young Frankie Andreu, who'd go on to bigger races as a member of Lance Armstrong's Posties. Spring Valley Park, Kalamazoo.

This is just the base ant the top poles unassembled when its fully extended it is 3300 mm. It also has 16 ground radians which when it is erected I will add its photo (if my Fuji will get a photo of it 70 + feet in the air.) So assembled it is 9 foot 13 inches tuned to the frequency 27.1850Mhz, or channel 19 on AM I can't wait to try it out on Side Band.

In the morning of Friday, June 28, 2019, Cimarron Valley Railroad's westbound Dodge City Turn, with GECX 5951 and 5969, is getting a new crew in Ensign, KS and starting west.
GECX 5951 is a GE B40-8. Reportedly GECX 5951 was built in 1988 by GE as CR 5061 a model B40-8, builders number 45625 It is former CSX 5951, and before that CR 5061.
Start again.

This is a photograph from the start of the 5th Annual Multyfarnham (Multy) 5KM which was held in the village of Multyfarnham about 15KM west of Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 1st June 2016 at 20:00. Almost 200 participants took to the route including runners, joggers and walkers which was on an out-and-back course on beautiful country roads. The weather was perfect for racing and running with the fast course and good weather providing personal and seasonal bests for many of the participants. The GAA Club and Community Centre provided car-parking and the race headquarters. The course starts at the base of a long challenging hill which then brings runners on a beautiful 3KM loop around the roads and laneways in the hills before turning back towards Multy village and taking the advantage of the downhill which was tackled at the start of the race.

The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
