The start of a busy weekend - that may yet get disrupted by the weather began with a check up at the doctors. More tests for gastrointestinal wobbles early next week. After leaving the doctor’s I caught a couple of trains from Stoke to Stockport, then Stockport to Sheffield. I took my Sony A7R Mk2 and Fuji XT1 and traded them in against a secondhand Sony A9 - got one in immaculate condition for just under a third of the price of a new one, after trade-in from Harrison Cameras in Sheffield. I then checked in to my hotel and had a wander around the city centre. The other reason I’m here is for a charity concert at the City Hall by Sheffield legends the Everly Pregnant Brothers - with guest DJ spots from Jarvis Cocker and Nick Banks of Pulp - and also Richard Hawley. Snow has been given out overnight so I’m hoping that the trains are running reasonably well, as I’m going to The Photography Show in Birmingham tomorrow....

Just looking at this makes me reach for the hydrocortisone cream :-)

Over 100 Pronghorn were on this hill, and the lower plains area this is not in view. I did not have a wide angle lens to get them all into a photo, but did a count (as best I could). So, I would say 100 Pronghorn plus or minus 10%, as they kept moving around.

I had Charlie pick me up 15 minutes earlier, so we could start our trainwatching day right - with CN's L507 leaving DBR for N MKE.

Immy went back to school today for the start of Spring term, Cam doesn’t return until Wednesday so after dropping Immy off, we went shopping. Camilla discovered. much to her delight, that she can now wear Topshop petite size 4, although when I pointed out that we could now buy the same clothes, albeit in different sizes, she seemed less enthralled! How times have changed, I can’t imagine my Mum saying that to me when I used to trawl the rails of Tammy Girl! We popped into Monsoon and I persuaded Camilla to try a couple of their girls occasion dresses on, but Monsoon really isn’t her style these days. I did however, pick up a couple of beautiful dresses for Immy in their sale, hence my photo for today.

Recently, Opel/Vauxhall have started selling the new Insignia model, which i think looks rather fantastic. Back in April however, i got the opportunity to spot some 'prototype' model Insignias on German plates, driving down the A1(M) in convoy, though they weren't covered up that much. The convoy of cars were all registered to the district of Groß-Gerau, located in central-western Germany, and where the Opel headquarters is based at, in the city of Rüsselsheim. Obviously, this isn't the only 'prototype' car I've spotted driving down this stretch of road having also seen various new Volvo models too, including the latest XC60 and up-coming smaller XC40.

Starting from an 11th century fort, most of the original castle dates from the 13th century. Additions were made in the following centuries and it was extensively revamped between 1690 and 1716, when it also received a Baroque façade.

This was taken at the weekend from the gap between the Toll House and the new Yasig (Young and Safe in Gainsborough) building. I really liked the shot of the spiral and the start of the riverside walk. Anyone seen Dorothy?

i remember when i first started taking pictures i was also really interested in post processing too. there always seemed to be those people who though it was "cheating" to post process. that makes absolutely no sense to me. post processing in itself is an art. you cant just hit a button and make your picture look like this. you have to have an idea of the mood and tones you want and have an idea of how that actually looks and find a way go mimic it.
