Canon Photo5 Comp - Bokeh

Trying out one of the supplied Bokeh hoods, I came across a dinghy on Manly Beach called Masquerade,

Didn't submit it though, as I didn't feel it was strong enough and I had trouble getting any decent starry-bokeh shots with the hoods supplied

I ran a star-bokeh roll through my Canon EOS1000F, then shot over it with my Lomo LC-M.

Cornelius wishes you a happy new year!

His new year resolution is to be photographed a lot more! Let's hope it happens!

1st attempt at trying to have an actual subject when using the aperture mask. I don't know what it is exactly, but it underexposes the picture horribly...and I didn't notice it as much in previous playing-around (without a true subject) test shots. Maybe I wasn't holding the mask completely flush against the end of the lens. Hmm....

Compare to the unedited version (converted f/the RAW file without any edits) to see what I mean.

Fun facts (again):

1). My friends are getting married in less than 36 hours!

2). Being outside the city of Oxford gives you a perfect view of the endless sky

3). I tried to take another shot of the starry sky

4). I got an OK shot

5). This was my favorite though

6). It's imperfect

7). And that's OK

8). Sometimes imperfections are what make a photo interesting!

Finally worked out how to do this!

This is my attempt at shaping bokeh. My maximum aperture was f/5.6 so I had to cut the shape very tiny for this to work.. which is why my star looks a little deformed. I hope to do some more of this with a different lens so I can get better results.

I made my own Star Bokeh. I took one of my backgrounds and put a set of white christmas lights across it, added the flower and a little off camera flash and boom, star bokeh! Pretty cool..

Thanks to Photobud Gabrielle for this website on how to make one - www.kevinandamanda.com/whatsnew/tutorials/photography-tut...

The stars in the background are not fake, they are Christmas tree lights shaped with a man made filter. Enjoy!
