It is rare that I get rid of a M2 - but Berry needed one so I relented and passed on my mintish, Press Button M2 to him. Howard could not believe that it had been mine - no dents, no scratches etc. It was actually too nice even for me to bang up - and I don't like the Press Button rewind. This was an early one so you had to hold the button in while rewinding it too. Felt a bit funny though to dispose of a M2 - probably will search out one in user condition some time in the future.

I don't mean to keep on about this unedifying subject, but I have been surprised to find so many gentlemen's urinals surviving in South Wales, running counter to developments elsewhere. These unobtrusive brick structures at the edge of the pavement are often sited on steep valley-sides and the great height of the wall at the rear of this over-looked example must have been intended to screen innocent eyes from the terrible scenes within. Though utilitarian, the design is of good quality, often incorporating such refinements (not present here) as round-cornered bricks at the entrances. Tiling inside, but guttering &c. probably vitreous enamel at one time, is now unlovely stainless steel. Church rather than chapel across the street, but the colliery spoil tip on the hilltop, becoming overgrown with young pines, completes this South Wales scene.

Taken with a MPP large format camera and ilford FP4+ film. I used a B&W 10 stop ND filter and then developed the film using stand development and Rodinal at 1:100 for 90 minutes (inverting once at the start, then again at 30 minutes and again after 60 minutes).

This shot is another of Posforth Gill Falls. It was taken with a neutral density filter which made the exposure longer than it would have been otherwise (120 seconds), hence the motion blur in the water.

The paint tins were there when we moved in. They are not ours, obviously, but I don't know whether they are the next-door neighbour's or belonged to the previous owner. I don't want them, but are they mine to remove? One doesn't like to mention the matter to the neighbour, a nice bloke, in case it comes across as a complaint. I wouldn't want to sour relations. Oh dear, it's all so difficult. Some handy odds and ends were left in the house by the previous owners and I now find myself the owner of five ladders of various types. My own step-ladder was rather too tall for convenience (my own silly fault) and this smaller, well used, but perfectly serviceable ladder is very acceptable.
From a second film put through a recently acquired Agfa Isolette with Solinar lens. The focus ring is a bit stiff (perhaps the Jerries were using left-over doodlebug grease in the 1950s) and I wanted to make sure the camera focused satisfactorily. I actually measured the distance to the tins with a steel rule (found in the garage and superior to my faithful Stanley) and focus looks spot-on. Rollei Retro 400S stand developed in Agfa Rodinal.

NEOPAN 400, Standentwicklung in Rodinal 1+100, 20°. Die ersten 60 Sekunden gekippt.
