Having had squirrels in the roof and cavity wall I cannot say I like them but they are fairly photogenic and cute at a distance. Taken with the canon 1D4 and the 300mm f2.8 with the 1.4x, a lovely combination.
While taking a break at the Native American Museum's fountains during a photo trip in DC, this squirrel came right up to us without hesitation, as if she wanted her picture taken. Naturally, in a group of photographers, we were happy to oblige.
Whoops, the auto ISO got away from me -- shot at ISO 800 with shutter speed that was unnecessarily high. Must pay more attention! Cleaned up with Neat Image.
Baby squirrel. He was a bit too close to the house to get a good angle without opening up the door and possibly scaring him (?) away. Poor thing is not at all fattened up for the winter. What was mommy squirrel thinking having babies at this time of year?!
Eventually he got sick of getting wet and started taking the peanuts under my van to eat them.
While sitting in my back yard watching for birds on the feeder, this little girl hopped on the tree next to me. I was barely able to get my 300mm lens focused to catch her stare.
This little fellow was happy to pose for a close-up in exchange for an almond.
Mr Reis says even great photographers take only one good photo every year. This is my offering for 2009.
