The last one in this set from Whinfell Summer 2012 – technically not the best of the bunch, but I love the character and expression. Cute.

It was sooo hard to take this squirrel as we had to follow her everywhere patiently until she finally found something that kept her busy. San Antonio, Tx.
Sciurus niger (Fox Squirrel). This was the other squirrel living in the holes in the old cottonwood tree. I'm guessing this was the male as he attempted to taunt me for quite some time with his posturing...typical guy. Thanks to Langooney for the proper ID on this one.
When I went to London to practice English, I saw that in all the city parks there are many of squirrels, I have to admit I was a little afraid because they used to come so close to people and I thought they will attack me, but I had the opportunity to take some pictures of them without been attacked haha.
A squirrel on the path in Trelissick gardens in Cornwall. He was clearly eyeing us but continued nibbling away until more people approached from behind us.
We saw these little guys on the way up the 101/1 to San Francisco, at the vista points.
This one is eating a gummy bear...
NOTE: we did not give him the gummy bear.
These squirrels are in a walk-through enclosure where you are able to get very close to them. I find these squirrels very beautiful, in fact quite stunning - they have attractive tufts on their ears during the winter months. We found them incredibly clean and were amazed at how very sharp their nails were.
This is using my new Canon 75-300 mm f/4-5.6III Telephoto Lens - bought on eBay for a pittance compared to retail ...
Having had squirrels in the roof and cavity wall I cannot say I like them but they are fairly photogenic and cute at a distance. Taken with the canon 1D4 and the 300mm f2.8 with the 1.4x, a lovely combination.
