By Sandee Vartanian Dusbiber. He came down finally from the tall tree and thought the squirrels would notice him by the tree. He was hoping , that he would get invited to play in the snow with the squirrels. Finally, a couple of real chubby girl squirrels came towards him. I think these girls thought he was cute, and the next thing I saw they were all playing and running in the snow . Maybe now he has been accepted. The girl squirrels must of thought he had a thick fur to keep them warm. He also had some corn that I had just gave him.

This weekend must have been some sort of squirrel holiday because the entire community was out in full force both mornings. Not only were they in a really playful mood but they also brought down one of the youngsters from the only litter we had this year. This little sweetie was a bit nervous and jumpy and didn't venture out from safety too often, though I was still able to grab a few shots for you to enjoy. Due to the rampant fires raging not all that far from us, this mornings light had a strange diffused quality to it. We pray that all their relatives in these areas managed to escape safe and sound.
He was watching the cardinal in my previous photos.

I know it's not possible to have too many pictures of ducks, but not sure if that's true of squirrels. This guy was sheltered from the wind under some bushes. Photo by Frank
I found out that the squirrels in Harold Amon park in Richland like cookies. Namely ones without much sugar and with raisins, crasins and almonds. Nibble, Nibble
While I was taking some photos of the little birds flying about, this cute little grey squirrel decided to come and pose for me! Looks as though he has been in a fight thought as he has a patch of fur missing between his eyes - poor wee guy.
The squirrels at Alverstone Mead certainly don't go hungry! This little chap was chomping his was through peanuts and carrots. With a healthy diet like that he has every chance of living to a ripe old age!
