Just returned from a wonderful two weeks in the north of Scotland with Steviethewaspwhisperer and Blackbearjim. One of the first of many things they had lined up for me was red squirrels, which I've been wanting to see for years. Of course, as Stevie pointed out the squirrels are all red up there, so to them they are "just squirrels" :-)
Loved the length of his tail!
Thanks you for the faves, comments and continued support on my uploads - much appreciated!
Interesting how they almost always draw one front paw up when they stop to look at you.
Thank you for visiting my site and taking the time to leave a comment. Truly appreciated!

Grey squirrel at Warley Place, using a fallen log on the forest floor for a vantage point. D7100_25905.NEF. Many thanks for views, comments and favourites.
People often say to me " These red squirrels are'nt very well camoflaged are they?" Well I was only sat about 6mts away from this one in good sun light and you can see how its blending into the colour of the forest floor, plus all the higher branches of the Scots Pines are the same red colour as its front legs.
I'm a bit slow with commenting at the moment, between being out with the camera and catching up with friends plus for some reason my mobile broadband connection, which was fine all last summer is very slow, and when I comment it takes ages then says " We are having trouble posting your comment," GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR ( in place of the bad language )
This little guy comes to the window every morning and stares in until you bring him his morning peanuts.
This was one of the first red squirrels we saw on our holidays... and it wasn't an easy one to photograph. It always seemed to stop to get some food where a plank of wood was obstructing it's head, or behind a wall where only it's tail was visible. As soon as I got the composition I wanted, it sped off, leaving a 'tail blur'. I got many 'tail blur' shots before getting this one. After that, it ran down the tree and into the forest at full speed. Some animals will do anything to make photography hard.......
