Goofball stopped by the feeding place for a few minutes the other day. He only had time to grab a few treats before returning to the important work of chasing youngsters out of his territory.

Baby squirrel!

Eastern Grey Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) munching on a sunflower seed in our backyard, I think this guy is pretty cute and he limits himself to grazing for the seeds spilled from the birdfeeder above (whereas his black squirrel brethren make suicidal leaps from the nearby deck to try and occasionally score a prized perch on a feeder. This little blighter was behind bars briefly today (who among us hasn't been there?). Anyway, he managed to escape and steal food from poor little birds.

Bluebird update - my Bluebirds started hatching this morning - 4 of the 5 eggs so far. Unfortunately, it is very cold and raw today - hope they will all be OK, but could have done with some nicer weather for their birthday.

It was a great day for squirrels! A lot of folks do not like squirrels but I think they are interesting creatures and very photogenic. Sure they pissd me ooff sometimes at my feeders at home but they have as much right to the free food as the birds.
