Find the squirrel!
This is shot number one of a set of two, although it was taken after the other shot. This is the squirrel that came right up to me looking to see if I had some food! I was zoomed in to 135mm for this, and totally missed some clearer shots when it sat in front of me. at 40mm it was more than full frame! Still, this turned out ok.

These squirrels were at Peasholm Park, Scarborough. They were tame and could be handfed. Gave me a great chance for some lovely wildlife close shots.
At the British Wildlife Centre, Newchapel, Surrey, the squirrel, having just eaten a nut, is looking to see whether another will be forthcoming.
This wee squirrel saw us taking photos in the graveyard and ambushed us for food. I know they're a pest, but could you resist?

Squirrels belong to a large family of small or medium-sized rodents called the Sciuridae. The family includes tree squirrels, ground squirrels, chipmunks, marmots (including woodchucks), flying squirrels, and prairie dogs. Squirrels are indigenous to the Americas, Eurasia, and Africa, and have been introduced to Australia. The earliest known squirrels date from the Eocene and are most closely related to the mountain beaver and to the dormouse among living species.
This little pest ran off with half a coconut that i lashed to a tree for the birds! He looks kinda guilty too.
Squirrel with the food in his mouth. Yeah and this time with red-eye (or was it white eye) removed :)
Because of the profusion of species of squirrel--a common occurence among rodents, it seems--I'm not sure what type this is. Squirrels in Iowa, from my very cursory examination, appear to be more likely to have a red belly than those in New England, which are more gray-bellied.
While this little fellow wasn't an exhibit at the zoo, he was definitely the sort of wildlife I don't see much around home, so he fit in with the rest of the trip.
