A grey squirrel taking advantage of some food I took out for the birds!

This squirrel likes to raid our bird feeder on a daily basis. I took this picture last spring but this guy is still a regular visitor.

Grey squirrel. There is quite a colony of these critters in Christchurch park, Ipswich UK. They are quite bold and friendly as they are used to people feeding them.

With the summer over, I am finding it harder and harder to get out when there is decent light to practice on the birds and squirrels. Tonight the light was decent (though I took most of these with the Speedlite).

 

This squirrel is either pregnant or nursing. She is certainly enjoying the cashews. I've been seeing her nearly every day.

The squirrels eat a lot of our birdseed. But I guess that's OK--squirrels have to make it through the winter too, and who am I to say that a bird is intrinsically more worthwhile than a rodent.

These guys are kind of hard to capture in Sweden. Here in Washington it was almost to easy, this little one just jumped up next to me.
