Squirrel in my garden. This one is a greedy guts! Not satisfied with one monkey nut - he has to have two at the same time =)

An old photo rediscovered...

Daily visitor to the garden.

ODC Group 2 "Watch or watching" He was watching me and I was watching him.

I was in Canmore doing some fishing, and had driven out to the Spray Lakes area to have dinner at this cool lodge out there. They had a wonderful dinner service, but they also had a show to go with it. There was a beautiful meadow and creek behind the lodge, and also some mudflats. The mudflats contained minerals of some kind that the moose licked, so every night they would come out and lick the minerals in the mudflats. Well, the moose showed up and so I headed outside to do some photography. I was laying in the grass on my belly waiting for the moose to get closer when I noticed this cute little ground squirrel. He had exit holes to his tunnels all over the place and would keep popping up in different places in front of me. So, I started shooting him. I spent probably 20 minutes taking shot after shot, but then the moose finally moved close enough that I switched my attention to them. BIG MISTAKE! My little ground squirrel friend wasn't happy about no longer being the focus of attention, and he then popped up in a hole about 8 feet away from me and just started squeeking and chattering at me. He wouldn't stop until I started shooting him again. As soon as I turned my lens to focus on him, he stopped chirping and gave me this little pose. I've often thought about photoshopping a little smoking jacket on him.
