I just planted these seeds the day before yesterday, but I already have four or five sprouts! I guess the greenhouse is good for more than just protecting seedlings from herbivorous cats :)
Just over the fence in our back yard is a small family orchard.
The owners (our sweet neighbors) work tirelessly every year to get the very most out of their little corner of earth and I love to watch them together.
They've used a lot of interesting techniques this year to save their plants from the wonky weather we've had. Currently there is a row of sprouts that are all sporting bright green hats to shield them from the snow we've had the last few days.
Great for the plants I'm sure, but also great for me because it makes for great background color in pictures like this!!
I'm trying to get a vegetable garden started and wanted to document the process. This photo is of a jalapeno sprout just a couple days after it broke through the soil.

Sprout, the new kids channel from Comcast, PBS, the Sesame Workshop and HIT Entertainment has been controversial.
Before a policy lunch, I asked someone from the Association of Public Broadcasting Stations what the reaction of members was. He said "they're divided" before taking a call on his blackberry. Some stations have
concerns.
It looks like KQED will be promoting the channel.
Roasted brussels sprouts with garlic chips, lemon, and paprika. A little snack for Natasha when she came home.
Normally we cook these with bacon but we wanted to change it up a bit. They came out delicious.

Grocery Shopping is a big part of my Domestic Engineer duties. For the most part I shop at Sprouts because its close to where I live and it is a health food market. I also shop at our Co-operative and Whole Foods. There are a lot of places in the city I can go but I prefer these because they sell a lot of organic foods.
Sprouts is a store that sells organic foods. These stores often also have bulk sections. This one is dedicated to spices only.
