This image of Europe is a composite of Proba-V images from 1–10 May 2014. Launched just over a year ago, the washing machine-sized satellite carries the Vegetation imager designed after the French Spot-Vegetation mission, flown on the Spot-4 and Spot-5 satellites.
Spot-Vegetation marked 16 years of service in May, and has now passed the torch to its European counterpart.
Proba-V maps land cover and vegetation growth across the entire planet every two days. The data can also be used for day-by-day tracking of extreme weather, alerting authorities to crop failures, monitoring inland water resources and tracing the steady spread of deserts and deforestation.

Cuckooflower, also commonly known as 'Lady's-smock', is a pretty springtime perennial of damp, grassy places like wet meadows, ditches and riverbanks, as well as roadside verges. Its pale pink flowers bloom from April to June and are thought to coincide with the arrival of the first cuckoo - a sure sign that spring has arrived at last.

I created this quilt for an upcoming bridal shower! I used a Jelly Roll of the Verna fabric line by Kate Spain, Kona cotton in Snow and a pattern called Strip Stacks by GE Quilt Designs.
The quilt was a lot of fun to make and pretty easy. I added the white outside border (not originally in the pattern), used a wide blue binding, and pieced the back. I quilted it with a meandering free motion pattern.
The quilt measures about 55 by 75 inches. I hope the happy couple enjoys it!
Taken through my static caravan window at Looe. (I keep this one clean!) He has spotted the freshly filled nut feeder and is pretending he is not there in this photo, by sitting very still. The Hawthorn tree he is sitting in is beautiful.

Wisteria abounds in Umbria (Italy) in April. This fabulous display was covering the side of an historic villa in the lovely hill town of Trevi.
Amid hillsides clothed in vibrant springtime grasses, the final rays of sunlight for this day shine down through the cliffs, illuminating the green hills lining the Snake River. After a breezy afternoon, the winds have calmed sufficiently to turn the Snake into a glossy mirror, and not a moment too soon; in the distance, the long-awaited train comes into view, gradually arcing around the long graceful curve of the river and at last passing beneath my precarious perch on the rocks. The engineer extends his hand in greeting as the matching yellow-and-black EMD's glide past with a colorful train following obediently behind. Yet just as fast as it came, the last car passes, and the train disappears around the corner downriver. Soon the sun will set on the Snake River, and Great Northwest's Ayer Turn will have a long, dark, moonless night run ahead of them.
These photos are capturing some magical moments , with the 2 blooming Cherry Trees, growing in our back Garden! This variety is botanically called Prunus "Kanzan", and it is also known as "Sekiyama", or "Hisakura". They are 2 adorable trees , which I always prune after blooming , because I do not wish them to become enormous. Their blooming period is very short --- 10 days or something..---but their Beauty, is an absolute delight for our garden and ourselves!

Steenbok ram enjoying the new growth. The Steenbok is a small “dwarf” antelope, with an average weight of around 12kgs and a shoulder height of a mere 45 – 60cms. They are a beautiful golden brown color, and have very distinctive, overly-large ears which look completely out of proportion to their petite heads. Only the males have horns, which are smooth, straight and very sharp.
