Manufacturing of rice paper used for spring rolls.

Day 0 - I arrived a half day earlier than my travel companions due to differing airlines, so I took to walking about instead and having a quiet dinner.

 

Hanoi, Vietnam - July 2015

These were fun to make. I used rice wrappers, which are really cool. They're like dry paper, and then you soak them in water for a few seconds, and they get soft, so you can wrap just about anything in them, and they stick together. Fun! These had lettuce, carrots, avacado, baked tofu & cucumber in them.

All fresh and crunchy.

My son brought home lunch for us today. This is the third time I have had these spring rolls since Friday! They are that GOOD.

something from the 'I can cook' book we gave Eli at Hannukah - vegetable spring rolls. The children had a fair amount of fun making, Megan wolfed them down and Eli mostly just ate the filo pastry. Not 100% convinced of their value as a meal.

Opted for healthy-ish tonight. Summer rolls. Or, spring rolls as you non-Hawaii people are apt to call it. Bomb bread pudding for dessert after too.

Jen was making Vietnamese spring rolls. Don't be fooled, Birdie was actually licking her chops at the bottle of cognac...not the big bowl of raw pork.

Good...but not as good as the Summer Rolls at Talk of The Thai in Lakewood.

New restaurant opened in Monroe, Louisiana. Kinks are still being worked out, but it looks like it will be a great addition to our eating places. It's sort of a Cajun/Vietnamese cuisine.

I love both of these dishes, this was some of the best banh mi I've had, the fake meat had a curry flavor. Wow. Strip mall on Nicollet near 28th.

Spring roll, I can not buy Chinese flour paper, so I use Vietnamese rice paper.

The starter - homemade mini spring rolls, with Plum Sauce or Hoi Sin Sauce for dipping

The bananas simmered for awhile before rolling them into dough for the dessert rolls.
