Trying out infrared photography for the first time. Not great, but a learning curve al the same! Spring Mountain Reserve, Greenbank, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Rhipsalidopsis-Sym(Hatiora) are commonly called Easter Cactus or Spring Cactus and originate from Brazil.
Even though the magic of birds singing and flowers blooming and green returning is still happening this spring, somehow this celebration of nature seems muffled this year by the pall of pandemic. I still admire the beauty of spring, but my heart is going out to all those who are suffering - may Heaven help us all ...
"We stand now where two roads diverge. but unlike the roads in Robert Frost's familiar poem, they are not equally fair. The road we have long been traveling is deceptively easy, a smooth superhighway on which we progress with great ease, but at its end lies disaster. The other fork of the road - the one less traveled by - offers our last, our only chance to reach a destination that assures the preservation of the earth."
~ Rachel Carson, "Silent Spring"
Spring flowers covered in an April snowfall from a couple of years back. It looks like we're going to be in for more of the same this year. The forecast for the first day of spring in Boston is yet another Nor'easter, with 10 to 14 inches of snow expected.
So for now, it looks as if my dream is a dream deferred.

This newborn calf can't be more than two days old and still isn't the most sure on its feet yet. It was pretty fun watching it trot around after a little nursing. Newborns are one of my favorite things in Spring. Keller, Texas, USA, March 2015

¡FELIZ MAYO!

HAPPY MAY!
Spring is the Re-birth season par excellence. We are fertile cosmic seeds, let us germinate again, so that the heart full of joy blossoms and we bring the happiness of spring flowering to all the seasons of our life, that we can restart each time with new vigor, with the force of spring in flower.

Last week, spring just exploded on the lower elevations of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. This image was taken on Friday 3/30/2007.
Most crocus flowers are a pale shade of purple. Some of them are yellow though which makes them stand out in a large area of them.
The flowers are famous for blooing very early on in the spring time. Sometimes they come out as early as February.

I saw these flowers as I drove home today and took this with my Coolpix L110 as I drove by. I put it on zoom and got this photo...no processing or anything...just straight out of the camera. It is so good that spring has finally arrived.
I spent a day yesterday at the Morris Arboretum in Philadelphia, Pa. What a great way to spend a spring day!

You know spring has sprung when you find a complete field of naturally occurring flowers. Even this photo doesn't do justice to how beautiful this really was.
