As you can see, quite fond of this style at the moment and doing 'macro' shots. Rarely do this type of photography simply because I don't have sufficient kit to get super closeups and can just about get away with these daisy shots! Still enjoying doing something a bit different and have been having really good feedback so thanks to anyone that commented on the previous images in the 'spring daisies' set... If you want to see some proper macro and nature photography in general go check out my dads flickr page www.flickr.com/photos/paeuk/ ...

Los Angeles, 2006

Spring Street was the financial center of Los Angeles for decades, until the Bunker Hill highrises started going up in the late 1950s. The primary architectureal styles featured in the former bank buildings (most of them currently converted to condominiums or rental units) are Beaux Arts and Art Deco.

For several months, I was one of the volunteer docents who gave walking tours of these grand old buildings for the Los Angeles Conservancy, which seeks to preserve the city's architectural heritage.

David and I took a tour of some units at an open house in the Bartlett Building. The 14th-floor units (lofts) offer panoramic views (and, alas, are priced accordingly); I'll post some of the photos I took up there later.

Working with multiple exposures in camera lately, allowed me to discover a new creative path full of possibilities and inspiration. Still need lots of practice, but I really enjoy the whole procedure so far!

Wekiwa Springs, part of Wekiwa Springs State Park, is one of two springs in Apopka, FL, just north of Orlando (the other being Rock Springs/Kelly Park). Its waters join with Rock Springs Run less than a mile from the swimming area, forming the Wekiva River. The spring runs and the river are popular locations for paddlers, as the area surrounding much of the waterways is protected. The Wekiva River eventually joins with the St. John's River.
