No this is actually a spreadsheet.

Why Microsoft calls them books I do not know. I would think Sheet, or Spreadsheet would be more appropriate. But who am I to question Bill Gates.

So here I am at the halfway mark in the Month with this hunt and I am 7 Items short of finishing. With the holidays coming up and company coming I hope I finish in time.

What looks like a Hat but isn’t a Hat??

Shortest Path problems are one of the base operations of the network problems. Problem is to reach a target location from a beginning location. There are generally numerous available paths to achieve this goal. The objective of the Shortest Path problem is to achieve this goal with the minimum distance traveled. One way to solve the problem is dynamic programming. This template uses dynamic programming techniques to solve up to 16-node shortest path problem. SpreadsheetWEB version of the template carries the dynamic program onto the web and solves the problem online.

This is a small part of the spreadsheet that kept me sane and kept our budget on track while we were planning our wedding.

You will note from the rings on my finger that it worked and we got hitched!

I've used excel for business applications for years, but this turned out to be one of the best applications ever! We used it to build out a mailing list, track responses and created a whatif to estimate our final costs as our guests responded.

Thanks for the great contest and excellent books.

This is my final graph. Remember that in physics everything is a model that's based on data. We've told you that in a circle, the acceleration along the axis pointing towards the middle is a=v²/r. We wanted you to get a chance to collect data to validate this model.

Danger Ted's Big Pal makes a new daily spreadsheet every time he walks 1000 miles since they retired. Today was their tenth. So that's exactly 10 THOUSAND miles. EXACTLY. On the beach at Ettrick Bay on the island of Bute where they went on the very first day of retirement EXACTLY six years ago today. "How's that for organisation?" boasts DT.

"As usual multiple equipment failure meant that the pedometer had to be reset to zero several times, but 149.8 accurately signifies 10,000 miles as is verified by the spreadsheet extract," audits Danger Ted.

Here's the final takeaway from our data analysis.

The position, time graph (t,y) is parabolic and the velocity time graph (t,v) is linear. This corresponds to slowing down on the way up, stopping, and turning around.

The linear (t,v) graph tells us something else: we have a constant acceleration. This acceleration appears to be about 10 m/s per second, or 10 m/s². We will see the actual value is 9.8 m/s², and this is how quickly gravity changes a falling object's velocity here on earth.

Another evening spent faffing about with spreadsheets and budgets. It's not pretty, but it's done - for now. I still have more analysis of last year's figures to do, but it'll have to wait.
