Possibility Probe (heavy object and built environment) is a starting point for asking questions and conducting experiments. A direct response to the trend of making mobile technology smaller, lighter and more discreet; these objects are unwieldy, heavy and broadcast to all within hearing distance.

Cumbersome – a burden if not shared – these Possibility Probes resonate with the built environment that they are carried through. Like a drum or a heart, they beat faster the more they are surrounded by the fabric of the city, slowing as space opens up around them.

How you carry them, where you carry them and who you journey with will all affect the possibilities that emerge and the unseen qualities that are revealed to you.

It's always nice when a shot tells a story of my day. This doesn't.

The story of my day would involve an exam room, governance papers, or bloody spreadsheets.

Did I mention that I hate the Summer term?

This is a teeny tiny little pink flower that sprang up at the back of the site near to where I park.

Happy to take suggestions as to what it is. I'm not good on flowers.

Find the graphing function to insert a scatter plot with markers only. Under Excel 2016, which we have on school computers, this is under insert on the ribbon menu. Refer to the video I made for help with LibreOffice or Google Sheets.

Memory Test may also be regarded as a game for fun. However, it certainly requires high level of concentration. Purpose of the game is remembering the locations of some painted cells in a 9x9 matrix which are revealed for a short period of time and then hidden. The game has 20 stages and 12 levels. Througout the game, the level is increased or decreased according to the success of the player in the previous stage. The test aims to measure the short-term visual memory of the player. Test score is evaluated by taking the average level, accuracy and reaction time of the player into account.

Super busy day at work! Had to do so much thinking again; my poor brain! Very intense meeting this morning trying to work out a particularly complex issue with our new database, then a shedload of spreadsheet sorting ahead of starting to send out a massive mail merge email.

After all that, Char and I walked over to the Southbank to go and see my photos in the 24hrLDN exhibition at OXO Tower Wharf. Beautiful sunset on the way there! The London Photo Show was really good, but I have to say the 24hrLDN bit felt a bit low rent. Had a lovely evening though - Char bought us wine at the bar there and we wandered around the whole thing with it, then went for pizza after at Gabriel's Wharf. Fun!

Caught the train home at a decent time, and Tim met me at the station :)

This is supposed to show what we need to evolve as a society today. New power Tech, advancements in gov't, space exploration.

Below in the tags in a link to a page with all the images/artist I drew from for this.

The 'WELCOME' Screen That Appears Upon Opening My Spread Betting Calculator

Working with the DoF calculation for all images I made the following spreadsheet

DOF = 2CNU^2/f^2

In Focus = DOF^.5 for 45 degree angle

CoF (C) . . . . . . . . . 0.03

Apertures (N) . . . . 1.8 . . . . . . 3.5 . . . . . . 7.1

Distance (U) . . . . . 394

Lens (mm) (f) . . . . 50

DOF (mm) . . . . . . 6.71 . . . . . . 13.04 . . . . . . 26.45

@45 degrees . . 9.48 . . . . . . 18.44 . . . . . . . 37.41

. . . . . . . . . . . . 0 - 6/16" . . 0 - 12/16" . . . . 1 - 8/16"

The calculated DoF exactly doubles each time, 6/16, 12/16/ 24/16

I focused on the 5" line:

At f/3.5 - DoF is calculated at 6/16". The image looks acceptably sharp to me from around 4 13/16" to 5 2/16" which is about the 6/16" I'd expect. Focus point was aimed at the 5" line. I don't see the distinct 1:2 focus area front to rear on this one as much.

. . . Bollocks.

The camera batteries went kaput right in the middle of shooting tonight, and when I put the spare set in I realised I'd forgotten to recharge them. So I had to resort to using the camera on my phone and ended up with this shot, which is the best I could come up with before the battery in my phone went kaput too.

And I had a really cool idea lined up for tonight too. Pants.

Ah well, at least this shot is a fair indicator of my day today - it's been pissing it down. Like really pissing it down.

Work was manic today, I felt like I was being pulled in all directions at once - and Friday seems to be deadline day for everything! To add to this, I was twenty minutes from leaving for the day when a gang of managers wandered in and spent the next fourty minutes poring over a spreadsheet I'd created and asking tricky questions!

I'm not complaining of course, it's nice to be busy and in demand, and I must point out that the managers in question are all very cool people who I really like - no I'm not kidding, they really are dudes! They know their stuff, they look after their staff and they treat everyone with equal respect, which is a trait you're not always lucky enough to get in a manager.

Family Guy's on now so I'm going to go watch it and have some highly inappropriate laughs.

Today's music: the second half of White Pony and the first half of Saturday Night Wrist, both by the Deftones and De Stijl by The White Stripes. Well, a bit of it, then the management descended upon me and it would've been rude to carry on listening to it . . .

Enjoy the summery weather!
