Still life: almonds and Excel spreadsheet, Cash Up, calculator. Later in the evening, Lady Lamb sings, "I want to touch you like the seed touches the soil. I want to hold you like the milk holds the spoil." I talk to Brian, who will turn 40 on the day before I will turn 40. He says, "so we should get together and set something on fire at midnight?" Celina asks, "What do you think of Brian?" I say he's a nice guy, and that's true. I also tell her that I'm heartbroken, and that's true, too. I have dated so many nice guys. Finding nice guys is actually not hard. Chemistry is what is hard. Chemistry + nice guy is really, really hard. I don't want to waste anyone's time, least of all my own. Lady Lamb speaks to us because she's all marrow and screaming and no bullshit. "You've got to be starving for it", she says. "If you're dreaming about dying then you're not really living, darling", she says. Sure, she's a kid. And I'm heading into 40. It's hard to explain, but I don't ever want to forget how she feels. I still haven't forgotten it. There were times when I could've forgotten it, but I didn't. "Like the milk holds the spoil." That's the key. It reminds me of Leonard Cohen: "Thanks for the trouble you took from her eyes. I thought it was there for good, so I never tried." I'm not against nice guys. But I need that kind of understanding, too. Understanding about the spoil, and the trouble. Jolie Holland touches on this, too, when she sings, "I can't believe you're treating me like all those girls, all those sweet girls go home and cry, and wonder why."
I am one of those weird people who love Excel. Honestly I love creating spreadsheets, fixing them, making them inherently complicated but super functional. I would honestly hug a spreadsheet if I could (print outs so don't count here) but I can't so I settle for hugging the screen. Sadly I don't get that many excuses to use it on a daily basis.
LG allows for users to now have multiple displays without requireing a high end graphics card. With their Daisy Chain system, you can connect up to 6 monitors to a single PC (or each other) via USB. This process uses the computer's CPU to handle the graphics. I wouldn't expect it to work ith super high end games/programs that would need a high end graphics card, but for simple video and spreadsheets, it should work very well.
This template is prepared for understanding the deflection characteristics of a structural beam under a specific loading conditions. This template aids in stress and deflection calculations for structural beam bending free and guided on one end, rigid one with uniform load. SpreadsheetWEB version of the template allows to carry out the calculations online.

*UPDATE* : see flic.kr/p/dvDHf2 for 2013 Sep projection from spreadsheet
see also scharts.co/PdWQRZ for live updates of the 52-week trend
now seen 2012 08/aug 22nd : up-ticks in 52-week ROC indicate it's probably time to stack or regret not stacking.

older: flic.kr/p/b3iBqa 2011 dec 27 visual basis & math confirming 277 week ROC pattern
52 and 277 week ROC (rate of change) patterns for gold price action. 277 week pattern holding tight trading channel indications. 52 week mostly following series of triangular patterns indicating +50% (1.5 factor) of price year-over-year or near 0% gains (1.0 factor) in dips. Exception noted with red overlay triangle-shader. 20% to 30% year-over-year gains on 52-week ROC also noted (turquoise around it, darker blue is the channel).
Prices within the dark blue transparent channel are the 52-week model. Prices in the green transparent channel are the 277-week model. Some price-activity will be in both models.

Working with the DoF calculation for all images I made the following spreadsheet
DOF = 2CNU^2/f^2
In Focus = DOF^.5 for 45 degree angle
CoF (C) . . . . . . . . . 0.03
Apertures (N) . . . . 1.8 . . . . . . 3.5 . . . . . . 7.1
Distance (U) . . . . . 394
Lens (mm) (f) . . . . 50
DOF (mm) . . . . . . 6.71 . . . . . . 13.04 . . . . . . 26.45
@45 degrees . . 9.48 . . . . . . 18.44 . . . . . . . 37.41
. . . . . . . . . . . . 0 - 6/16" . . 0 - 12/16" . . . . 1 - 8/16"
The calculated DoF exactly doubles each time, 6/16, 12/16/ 24/16
I focused on the 5" line:
At f/3.5 - DoF is calculated at 6/16". The image looks acceptably sharp to me from around 4 13/16" to 5 2/16" which is about the 6/16" I'd expect. Focus point was aimed at the 5" line. I don't see the distinct 1:2 focus area front to rear on this one as much.
