I am not up on my butterflies, but this little beauty kept flitting away, landing just ahead of us on the trail. Finally he alighted on a branch and spread his wings....HWW.

This Snow Goose and her two juveniles were seen at Whitefish Point, Michigan. They were all alone (bird-wise) on the rocky beach.

The dark-colored juveniles will attain the adult plumage by their second autumn.

A close-up shot of a little Birds Nest Fungus. These fungi use splash dispersal to spread their spores. The grey peridioles ("eggs") are full of spores, and these get dislodged by raindrops.

It's just before Christmas and there's still lots of snow to clean up in Muskoka. The sun's back out though, and we find W908 working the Bala in the late afternoon just north of Sparrow Lake with Jordan Spreader CN 50948 and a friendly crew leading the charge - MP 95 Bala Sub.

Apparently, we have been negligent in cleaning out this old birdhouse in our back yard. Consequently, this House Wren seems to have taken the matter in hand. It's such a tiny little bird but very voluble and energetic - spending all day cleaning house. Bits and pieces of hair, feathers, grasses, and other debris were tossed out, dragged out, and strewn out in all directions. It was fun to watch. All this activity was followed up with much singing and calling.

It seems there is lot's of symbolism around Wrens - the totem enters your life when you are sad and depressed and are unable to cheer yourself up. If their totems are good at something, it's spreading the joy that they have inside of them all around. www.sonomabirding.com/wren-symbolism/

A couple days over 46 years ago GTW Jordan spreader 51077 clears the Cass City subdivision northbound near Deaford, Michigan. This north - south line was prone to heavy drifting from all the adjacent farm fields at cuts and tree rows, here plowing thru a 4 foot drift on January 28, 1979.

This mornings visit to Wabasso. Pelicans were very cooperative.

Had another helper for the pizza yesterday. Harl Hubbs thought that it's very inconvenient to spread the tomato sauce with a spoon, so he invented a high pressure tomato sauce spreader.

Harl, there are footprints on my Pizza!

Footprints? Nooo, these are convenient holes for the spices, so they don't fall off. Although they do look a little bit like footprints...

It's been a long time again since I posted. A bit of an update with my Long Covid saga:

I haven't been able to go on my computer for months, but the past few days I've been able to stay on for about 20 minutes, so that's positive. I haven't been in a crash for a couple of weeks, so have been able to go for a few short walks in the wheelchair to parks and the beach - yay! I always have to rest before and after I do anything at all, as that is key. But I am feeling much more positive. I've had to miss so many family dinner parties and events, but push my hubby to go without me. The fatigue still takes over most days, but between rests, I am reading, going in the back yard, and can actually watch shows again on an iPad. So those are all positives.

My Flickr subscription runs out in December and I was thinking of cancelling as I've hardly used it, but I want to be positive and believe that I will be able to again. I really miss all of you. And thank you so much to all of you who continue to write to me, even when I can't write back. It means so much to me.

I can hardly wait for the day when I can spread my wings again.

I took this on a drive through Stanley Park downtown the other day. As many of you know, autumn is my favourite season.

just for me:-)
