What an exciting day we had on Arbor Day, April 29th, 2016!
- Professional arborists from the International Society of Arboriculture, Penn-Del Chapter pruned trees during a Day of Service at the Centennial Arboretum in the Fairmount Park Horticulture Center. Many thanks to the staff of Bartlett Tree Experts and John B. Ward & Co.
- Volunteers from TreePhilly's sponsor TD Bank supported the professional arboriculture work at the Centennial Arboretum by spreading woodchips and doing tree pit care, led by Philadelphia Parks & Recreation staff.
- At a press conference at the Centennial Arboretum, Philadelphia was awarded its 40th Tree City USA award by the Arbor Day Foundation! Many thanks to Pete Smith from ADF, and Rachel Reyna from PA DCNR for their support of the Tree City USA Program.
- And thanks to the Fairmount Park Conservancy for their support of this amazing Arbor Day!

Helianthus divaricatus
This is a tall woodland sunflower that grows at forest margins or in open woods. It can form large colonies with bright yellow blooms for late summer.
Inside spreads were designed to showcase the illustration.
Bento was a journal for student illustrators coordinated by Kent Williams that was published by Allen Spiegel Fine Arts.
Hopefully soon I will have this spreader painted as well as the bottom of NOrseman. I am also looking forward to sailing in wind strong enough to keep the spiders from making webs up there....LOL!
