I have been absent for long and though I can't make excuses for the same, I thought I would stop by for a quick click of the golden spread of flowers from this spring.

The fragrance of flowers spreads only in the direction of the wind.

But the goodness of a person spreads in all directions.

Of course, it could be a he. Females are about 25 percent larger than males, and this appeared to be a big one.

During my time at primary school and secondary school when I was studying religious studies, and when I was younger and went to church, and even in my philosophy classes for the last two years when we would get side-tracked and end up talking about religion to the two religious people in our class, the one thing I found to connect all religions was love. No matter whether monotheistic, polytheistic or atheistic, all religions seemed devoted to love - love of deities and love of everything living alike, which includes other humans, no matter their size, shape and beliefs. And when I was younger I truly believed it possible for everyone to love one another, and the only reason for people to be cruel to me at school was because they were young and knew no better. I could not see any reason for there not to be universal love.

But when I look around today, particularly on social media, I see how wrong I was.

I found myself on a Catholic website today, reading an article on immigration, and not only was the post itself spreading hate, but the comments were truly, frightfully horrible. And it was not just people hurling abuse at people of other beliefs and religions, it was people of the same religion hurling abuse at one another. I did not see a single nice, friendly comment on the entire site, the more I looked. And that upset me because when I was younger I saw religion as something that brought hope, peace and harmony - in fact, at one point, I believed I was not good enough for religion; not brave enough and not faithful enough and not kind enough. But I would never have said a word of what any of these people were saying, whether I knew the person I was saying it to or not.

Perhaps it is naive and juvenile of me to be so disappointed in the world, but I personally do not see what is so hard about simply accepting people and tolerating them for being who they are - is it really that difficult?

I just do not see what makes one person better than another.

I am not in the mood for any facts today.
