A splinter of wood stuck in the thumb, which has caused an abscess. The wood is made up of fibers, between which there are perpendicular rays that contain tracheids through which the sap circulates. The wood had fungus inside it, brown in color, which can be seen in the photo above right.

Talk about staying in character. This guy was really doing it up and was slinking about in the shadows, hiding where he could and really keeping in character.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (often shortened to TMNT or Ninja Turtles) are a fictional team of four teenage anthropomorphic turtles - Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo - named after four Renaissance artists, who were trained by their anthropomorphic rat sensei, Splinter in the art of ninjutsu. From their home in the storm sewers of New York City, they battle petty criminals, evil overlords, mutated animals, and alien invaders while attempting to remain isolated from society.
The characters originated in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book before their expansion into a cartoon series, films, video games, toys, and other general merchandise. During the peak of franchise’s popularity in the late 1980s through the early 1990s, the franchise gained considerable worldwide success and fame.

While Japan is the third most wealthy country in the world, sights like the above are not uncommon at all. Some buildings are very old, and as the tsunami videos showed, houses can be reduced to splinters in mere seconds.
Many places in Tōhoku have had most of their infrastructure destroyed and are still extremely hard to reach. The Japanese Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières are reporting difficulties in reaching the smaller coastal villages who have reported as many as half of their populations as missing. Many of them may still be alive but in dire need of help.
Please give in anyway you can. Here's details of how to give to the Japanese Red Cross, who not only operate rescue teams, but hospitals and bloodbanks:

I caught my thumb on a rough piece of wood and got a small splinter under my thumbnail. The tweezers on my Swiss Army Knife came in handy.

Myself, Colin, Grace, Carol and Lorraine (hi all :p) put on our urbex shoes and thanks to Carol's son, entered Home Farm in Minley at the weekend.

Painting and markings:
This crazy splinter paint scheme is real and was lent from a Finnish Fokker biplane - very unique, and worth using. But I did not want to build another Finnish aircraft, one reason being that I would not add swastikas to any kit of mine, even Finnish ones. So I translocated it to neighboring Sweden in the pre WWII era and I just added three Crowns to the white roundels, taken from a Matchbox Gloster Gladiator. I omitted the yellow/blue rudder flash, though, since camouflaged Swedish aircraft of that era seem to have lost this marking? The tactical numbers were taken from a TL Modellbau sheet.
Basic colors are Humbrol 128 (Ghost Grey), 86 (Light Olive Green), 77 (Navy Blue) and a mix of 33 and 184, for a very dark grey (the original tone is supposed to be black). 128 was also used on the lower surfaces.
Painting was done by hand and brush, and after the white roundels had been added the kit was just slightly dry-brushed for some light weathering effect. A wash with thinned black ink was carefully applied, too, just in order to emphasize some of the raised details. Light exhaust soot was created with grinded graphite, and finally everything was sealed under a coat of acrylic matt varnish.

This is the first shot of the splinter stuck into my foot between the big toe and second toe. Yes, my toes are fugly. My feet are dirty because I was camping with family and friends. We were walking on the dock of the paddle boats, and my sandal bent under my foot and popped up this chuck of wood from one of the dock planks.
