Splinter the rat costume from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT), patterned after the film / movie version I believe.

Yup. A giant wooden cock. Veins and all. Even has a banjo string. it's also about 18 feet long. They carry it around the village and men touch it to help their fertility. I think they need a few more around Japan.

A storm after Christmas brought down some of the old trees along the highway into Bathurst. My brother and I spent part of a weekend photographing the aftermath before it was all removed. I still haven't been to see what has been done with the trees.

This is a detail of where a screw went through the head ring too high and splintered the stave. You can see beside it, I got the next one correct, and there's almost no splintering
Now the exhibition is fully under way I feel it's time to put up the other four of the 'Splintered thoughts' collection :D
Not too sure how much the youth of the present and future have experience with wooden toys. But when my mind flies back to fragmented memories of my earliest days I remember many happy moments playing with solid simple shapes of wood with painted designs of cars, dogs or just primary colours.
And when I'm thinking those thoughts I like to believe this is in someway how I appear to everyone around me.
