Tonight I witnessed my second car accident in which the car ends up burning. 2 cars caught on fire, one of which came from the other side of the road, and I'm 99.99% sure it was because of speeding... and the other was innocently going the right way.
2 people were pulled out of the cars, and the driver of one of them was cramped inside and most probably died in the fire.
The accident happend at exactly 8:34pm fire truck arrived the first at 8:51pm (17 minutes) then the police, then about 5 minutes later the ambulance showed up. When we tried calling 777 we didn't get an answer!
This was my first time.

A snapshot of a Citroen 2CV as it leaves traffic lights in Paris. It stopped nicely at the red light and allowed me a couple of seconds to get the camera out. Could spend all day shooting classic cars in Paris.

I remain so busy that getting on Flickr is tough. I get home and the last thing I want to do is fire up a computer and surf, but I need to. I'll try and get to see your streams as soon as I can......
.. the Bentley Continental GT Speed.
It was way to dark for panning shots, so unfortunately the noise was inevitable!
To my generation of railway enthusiast there is little more evocative than the malevolent drone of a Deltic at speed. 55 020 'Nimbus' is flyng through Widdrington with the 17.00 Edinburgh to Kings Cross service on 22nd July 1976.
This locomotive was one of the earlier Deltic casualties, it was built as D9020 and put into traffic 12/02/1962 it was withdrawn 06/01/1980 and cut with unseemly speed at Doncaster 02/02/1980.

The iconic, streamlined profile of the Intercity Swallow livery can be seen here in all its glory as 43102 'The Journey Shrinker 148.5MPH The Worlds Fastest Diesel Train' flies towards Melton Mowbray with the late running 5M17 St Pancras International - St Pancras International EMR route learning run. 43295 was out of sight on the rear. The location is Kirby Bellars, 30th March 2021.
...You should ask yourself this question: "Do I have INSURANCE for my camera and other photo equipment?"
On my recent sailing trip (I've posted several pics and have a few more to post as well), I had a terrible accident. I was climbing out of the dinghy and back into the boat. I had placed my camera bag on the side deck of the boat, and made extra sure it was secure. I hopped up on the boat, turned around and watched my camera bag roll off the side of the boat and into the water of the Chesapeake Bay where I was anchored. I grabbed the bag before it sank (maybe in the water all of ten seconds) but by then the bag had filled with water. In the bag I had my Nikon d5000, my Sigma 10-20, Nikkor 70-300 and Nikkor 35 f/1.8. By the way, I do have a small "dry bag" which I usually use for camera and a single lens when on the boat, but for whatever reason, the night of the accident I felt I didn't need it. I was only going to row a couple hundred yards to shore and back. :-(
When I got home from my trip two days later, I took all of the stuff to the local photo store and they suggested I send the equipment in for repair and cleaning.
The good news is that somehow the Sigma 10-20 escaped damage. They sent it back with no charge and said it's fine. "You dodged a bullet."
The news about my Nikon stuff is not so good. According to Nikon, the camera is damaged beyond reasonable economic repair. The two lenses can be fixed, for about $100 for one, $200 for the other. On top of that I face the cost of a new camera. In all, a very stupid and costly mistake.
Afterwards, I called my homeowners insurance and asked about coverage. I have a large deductible so will get no help from them. They did tell me that they could add a rider to my policy for only about $40 per year with no deductible. They did ask if I was a professional photographer, saying that my homeowners' policy could not cover me if I was a pro. Don't know if the policy would cover the kind of water damage I experienced, but I plan to look into it.
I found this article helpful: www.popphoto.com/how-to/2011/05/how-to-insure-your-camera...
The long and short of all this is check it out...insuring your stuff may prove much less expensive in the event of theft, damage, etc.
My oil on canvas. This painting was hiding behind the dollhouse that I recently removed from my hutch. These flowers were painted from my mind, rather than looking at anything.
One of the things that I enjoy about this painting is that I can turn it and get a different feeling.
The picture posted right before this one, in my photostream, shows Mr. Pusskin helping me with my photography of this painting.
Speeding down a tree lined avenue. There seem to be a lot of long, straight single laned roads around. A great number of them are also lined by trees. Whenever I come across one of these in Autumn, I always make sure to get some kind of picture, but it can be difficult to think of new ways of shooting this kind of scene.
In this case, I though a nice bit of blur would make the picture complete. Of course, it is added in post-production, as shooting thrree exposures for an HDR whilst moving is a little bit more than difficult. I masked the blur through, so that it is on full for the road surface, but slightly reduced for the trees so that you can see the trunks and branches.

This is a new challenge for me, siting on the speed-boat taking photo of other speed-boat. I got one shot only for this boat.
This shot was taken from the vantage point of a sky-walk bridge on a highway in Gurgaon, India. In a way, this shot depicts the break-neck speed at which the city has become an economic hub of India.
