The U-Bahn starts operations at 4 AM and I was surprised to find people in the system so early. This shot was at 4:50 AM at Frankfurter Ring
Part of my Munich Monday Series
Was wrapping up some work this evening when I looked outside and saw that the sunset could have some potential about 15 minutes before sunset ... so quickly grabbed the camera gear and headed through traffic to get down to Middle River ...
While taking some 14mm shots, noticed that the sky closer to the horizon was lighting up brighter, so grabbed the other camera that had the 100mm lens and started taking some captures with it while the 14mm was taking long exposures.
Saw the speeding boat coming up the river so composed the capture with the sky and waited for a couple seconds for the boat to enter the frame and get to the focal point.
The snail was in a big hurry, I guess the sun was a little warm on her.
She traversed the brick pavers and weeds in no time at all.
Haven't had snails for a long time, this means there are no rats in the garden for the time being.
They'll be back when the grapes are nearly ripe.
Haven't had any grapes for 3 years !
Have a great day
This male Peregrine has been patrolling and controlling the SoCal ocean cliffs for several years, entertaining me personally for six. He never ceases to amaze - to watch a peregrine shift to high gear, pedal to the metal, is just jaw-dropping remarkable. Like a bullet. No mistaking a high-speed peregrine from anything else in the sky. So he thrilled me once more, on a blustery winter day, overlooking the Blue Pacific.
... actually slowed down and got out the car to enjoy many of the views there as we headed in the East Entrance Road to the national park.
West Coast Adventure on the packet freighter M. V. Frances Barkley, Port Alberni to Bamfield British Columbia and back.
A speeding boat about to pass behind the M. V. Frances Barkley as we thread our way towards the Broken Islands Group. The islands are part of the Pacific Rim National Park, desolate and secluded at the mouth of British Columbia's Barkley Sound. The group of small islands is known internationally for awesome kayaking, camping, and other wilderness activities. On the way to Bamfield, the ship stopped at Sechart Lodge to pick up a couple of passengers and four more with their kayaks along the way. To drop off the kayakers, the ship's crane hoists a platform into the water with the kayaker sitting in the kayak, and he or she just paddles away. If being picked up, they paddle onto the platform, and then they are hoisted up onto the ship while sitting in the kayak. As we travelled through the Sound, numerous bears, seals, sea lions, and humpback whales were seen. The profound natural beauty all around us made the journey unforgettable.
Heard the boat speeding up the river and composed on a spot in the river with the pretty light and then waited for it to speed into the frame to take the capture. The shutter speed at 1/60 second helps show how fast that boat was moving up the river.
A local tram passes over the Oder river. This was 6 hours after sunset and shot from a slippery frozen dock.
