Took a short ride today on the Sam Hillborne and did some errands. Encountered a problem with the rear friction shifter at the start of the ride and had to stop at Goodales Bike shop. Kudos to the guys for fixing the problem quickly - just a minor mishap when they installed the kickstand yesterday apparently something was off.

I think using film for this shot showcases the true color of the Sam Hillborne vs if i were to take it with digital.
SGT Ena Torres
Air Defense Enhanced Early Warning System Operator
Duty Station: Fort Hood, Texas
Hometown: Orlando, Fla.
Born on Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Sgt. Ena Torres grew up in a musical family in Orlando, Fla. Her uncle, a karaoke DJ, delivered a karaoke machine to the Torres household. “You could say it was in my blood,” Ena said. “As long as I can remember, we’ve just been singing.” The clarinet, bassoon, tenor sax and piano are part of her repertoire and she yearns to learn guitar. She was a member of the concert and marching bands at Cypress Creek High School, and a vocalist in her church choir. In 2005, she performed in a regionally televised “The Singing Christmas Trees” program at First Baptist Orlando. Torres, 26, advanced to the finals of the local 2011 Operation Rising Star singing contest at Fort Hood, Texas. Her musical influences come from Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson and Evanescence. “I am super excited to make the show,” Torres said. “This is the biggest thing I’ve ever done.” U.S. Army photo by Tim Hipps, IMCOM Public Affairs

SPC Alexander Rebling
34th Army Band
Duty Station: Fairfield, Iowa
Hometown: Brighton, Iowa
Iowa Army National Guard Spc. Alexander Rebling is “uber pumped” about being in the 2013 U.S. Army Soldier Show. “This is like the dream job that I have always wanted since I was a kid,” he said. “I make my own vocabulary when I’m excited,” he added with a laugh. The Urban Dictionary actually defines “uber pumped” as “the cool way to say very excited.” Rebling’s grandfather, a retired Army CW4, told him about the Soldier Show when he was about 10 years old. “I always thought that would be something kind of cool,” Rebling recalls. “Even though I wanted to do it at that age, I didn’t really pay much attention because I was just a small farm kid from Iowa. I wasn’t really expecting to get this far.” Rebling joined the Army in 2010 and quickly got into the 34th Army Band. From there, it did not take him long to work his way into the Soldier Show. A guitarist who can sing, Rebling also plays bass, piano, trombone and percussion. “Everything to make a rock band, I can play it, except cowbell,” said Rebling, 21, a big fan of guitarists Joe Satriani, Zaak Wylde and Van Halen. “But I can sing. I have a good pitch, a good ear, and a really big range. I used to be able to hit eight octaves in high school.” U.S. Army photo by Tim Hipps, IMCOM Public Affairs
SPC Monica Melendez
Signal
Duty station: Tampa, Fla.
Hometown: Tampa, Fla.
Army Reserve Spc. Monica Melendez thinks the time is right to leave the Tampa Bay area with the U.S. Army Soldier Show, all the while knowing a deployment will follow. “I feel like I’m born here, I’m raised here – this is my country – and I feel like everybody should serve if they can,” said Melendez, 28, who has been pushed in the direction of the Soldier Show since she sang the national anthem at Basic Training. “It’s funny because everybody looks at me and is like, ‘She’s gonna squeak.’ But then I just come out with this loud voice, and they’re like, ‘Man, you should sing the national anthem for this, and sing it for that, and definitely do the Soldier Show. Don’t make me look you up and see you haven’t done it.’ From my drill sergeants to lieutenant colonels, anybody that’s heard me sing in the military in my leadership has told me to check it out. I had the opportunity to try this year, and so here I am. I’m ready to get down to business and do my part.” U.S. Army photo by Tim Hipps, IMCOM Public Affairs
