Spc. Parker Smith, Barracks Manager of 2nd Brigade, 10th Brigade Support Battalion, Bravo Company, has a passion for improving the lives of those around him. Here at Fort Drum, that passion manifests in making his barracks feel like a home for the Soldiers that live there. “I joined the military to help people, to be part of a team,” Parker said. All the improvements were self-funded by Smith and his command team. “Having to spend a couple dollars here and there is no big deal because you're going to see people utilize it, which makes you feel good,” he said. “Make your barracks look like a home. Don't let them look like just another building that doesn't matter, because they do matter. Soldiers live here.”

NOVO SELO TRAINING AREA, Bulgaria – Spc. Bryan Wright fuels a generator during Saber Guardian 2014. The exercise, hosted by U.S. Army Europe and the Bulgarian Land Forces, is a multinational military exercise involving approximately 700 military personnel from twelve participating nations including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine, Turkey and the U.S., as well as representatives from NATO. The exercise, which runs until April 4, 2014, is designed to strengthen international agency and military partnering while fostering trust and improving interoperability between NATO and partner nations involved in foreign consequence management and peace support operations with U.S. forces. Saber Guardian 2014 is part of the U.S. Army Europe annual training and exercise program and has been planned for since 2013. Last year’s iteration of the training exercise was conducted at the Romanian Land Forces Combat Training Center in Cincu, Romania. The training at Saber Guardian 2014 will reinforce USAREUR commitment to increasing regional flexibility, preserving and enhancing NATO interoperability, and facilitating multinational training. Pfc. (now Spc.) Paul Islas of USAREUR's D Company, 2-159th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion assembles a weapon on his way to being named the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade's top Soldier for 2014. At 11:00 am Jan. 23, 2016, our emergency response convoy responded to a semi-trailer truck jacked knifed on an exit ramp on Highway 97 with Maryland State Troopers. We proceeded to clear the the 2 feet of snow until the exit ramp was clear for emergency vehicles. Took about 45 mins to clear the trailer from the roadway. (Photos from Spc.
