The centre of Budapest went through a process of de-Sovietisation after independence. Virtually all statues and monuments were removed and placed in a country park outside the city but this one was retained as a reminder.

Although the view and location were amazing, my room looks and smells like a 70's Soviet era apartment. A tiny bed (my head and feet touched the wood), cracked bathroom, old furniture, classic!
