Old and corroded Soviet military equipment lays across the Panjshir Province of Afghanistan on Jan. 11, 2010. The tanks, trucks and artillery cannons are leftover of the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan in the 1980s. This military machinery can be found in graveyards all across the province and has become war trophies to local Afghans, specially a group of Mujahedeen fighters that fought the Russian military. Between 1980 and 1985, the Soviet military launched nine offensives into the Panjshir Valley to root out the Afghan guerrillas. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Teddy Wade/Released)
The centre of Budapest went through a process of de-Sovietisation after independence. Virtually all statues and monuments were removed and placed in a country park outside the city but this one was retained as a reminder.

Although the view and location were amazing, my room looks and smells like a 70's Soviet era apartment. A tiny bed (my head and feet touched the wood), cracked bathroom, old furniture, classic!

Esta selección y compilación de humor político popular, propio de los países del socialismo real, contiene cerca de 800 chistes de los que circulan en Cuba y cerca de 200 de los que circulaban en la Unión Soviética y demás países socialistas del Este.
Los sociólogos que se han dedicado a la recopilación y estudio del humor político en el socialismo, conocen que es difícil rastrear el origen de cada uno de los chistes, ya que al tener todos esos países condiciones de escasés, represión, ineficacia y autoritarismo similares, los chistes creados en un país pasan a otros de manera clandestina y viral, mutando para adaptarse a la idiosincrasia de cada localidad en particular.
