For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

Dear Friend,
Thought I would tell you that I arrived home all right and also to send some news of Ashtabula. You ought to see the city now it is all dressed up in holiday attire.

I was contacted by the Honourable Robert Wells - Commissioner last year with a request to license one of my photo's for the cover of the safety inquiry report.
The Inquiry was established following the tragic helicopter crash offshore Newfoundland and Labrador on March 12, 2009, in which 17 people were killed.
I remember watching the news during the time of the accident. One of the reports in the paper sticks out in my mind, the headline read:
"Waves of sorrow: Search ends for 16 missing in chopper crash"
The Inquiry has concluded and provided their findings and recommendations to prevent accidents like this in the future.
I was honoured to have my work on the cover and to have a chance to speak with Commissioner Wells who is one of the most interesting, genuine and accomplished people that I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.
Please excuse the poor quality of the image...the book was too thick for the scanner and that's changed the colors/quality.
About two years ago, we lost our much loved dog Rolo, and there hasn't been a day since when I haven't missed him.
The collar's retired now, but one day I hope the lead will be used again....
the shots in this series are in a pretty close time line. One moment he is upset and the next he is thinking of another unique pose for himself. Anyway, I included this one because it seemed to be an honest moment.
i wanted to add a second light to the mix so I used my 580EXII flash for highlight and triggered it with PW. the main light is an alien bee 800 inside of a westcott apollo (50") softbox up and camera right.
The sweet smell of a great sorrow lies over the land
Plumes of smoke rise and merge into the leaden sky:
A man lies and dreams of green fields and rivers,
But awakes to a morning with no reason for waking
He's haunted by the memory of a lost paradise
In his youth or a dream, he can't be precise
He's chained forever to a world that's departed
It's not enough, it's not enough
His blood has frozen & curdled with fright
His knees have trembled & given way in the night
His hand has weakened at the moment of truth
His step has faltered
One world, one soul
Time pass, the river rolls
It's not enough it's not enough
His hand has faltered

We been so long waiting
For the all time high
We got a damn good reason
To put your troubles aside
And all your winter sorrows hang ‘em out to dry
Throw it away
Gotta throw it away
All the colorful days, my friend
Are coming around again!
Genuine sorrows are very tranquil in appearance in the deep bed they have dug for themselves. But, seeming to slumber, they corrode the soul like that frightful acid which penetrates crystal.

It's hard to post anything today. I'm so sick of how we as a nation can't deal with issues of mental health and guns in this country in any kind of effective way. Are we willing to just accept this because nobody has the guts to stand up to the gun lobby and make some meaningful changes? Are we so callous that we can continue to ignore the problem of underfunded (or nonexistent) mental health systems in this country?
How many more will have to die before we stand up as a nation and try to do something?
My heart goes out to all of the people who have been scarred by this tragedy.

Sorrow is...
Pain, Hurt, Betrayed, Left out, and Sadness
You feel that everyday thats
Sorrow
You cry everytime
Sorrow
The pain can never go away
Sorrow is...
Pain, Hurt, Betrayed, Left out, and Sadness
(poem I made)
The sweet smell of a great sorrow lies over

His hand has weakened at the moment of
truth
His step has faltered
One world, one soul,
Time pass, the river roll.
And he talks to the river of lost love and
dedication
And silent replies that swirl invitation
Flow dark and troubled to an oily sea
A grim intimation of what is to be
There's an unceasing wind that blows
through this night
And there's dust in my eyes, that blinds my
sight
And silence that speaks so much louder than
words,
Of promises broken
