Once, a Flickr contact... now a good friend :-)

Sometimes....

Badrinath temple, sometimes called Badrinarayan temple, is situated along the Alaknanda river, in the hill town of Badrinath in Uttarakhand state in India. It is widely considered to be one of the holiest Hindu temples, and is dedicated to god Vishnu. It is also one of the 108 Divya Desams, holy shrines for Vaishnavites. The temple is open only six months every year (between the end of April and the beginning of November), due to extreme weather conditions in the Himalayan region.

Sometimes yer speeder needs a fixin'.

Polar Bear Plunge, Bradford Beach, Milwaukee, New Year's Day at noon. January 1, 2018.

I originally bought one like this back in 1997 and kept it in the package mint condition but that was until my first son was born in 1998 and when he starting to see toys around him, when he was about 3 years old he played with it hard and in no time it ended up in the toy junk spare parts bin.

So I decided to get another one after all those years and got this in real good price but when it arrived I wanted to check it out if it works fine but did not work at all. So I had no choice but to take it out of the package – therefore good bye my “still sealed min in box” specimen again like the Darth Vader’s earlier – and repaired it but not like Darth Vader this one was much more complex and it was lack of parts internally. Sadly I only managed to fix C-3PO but R2-D2 without the parts I need I could not make it work. However R2 still makes sounds and sometimes the red light works so instead of getting another one I decided to settle here. C-3PO is 8.5 inches tall.

A world that I think I have to be able to explain scientifically or that I think I want to explain, is boring. Or maybe what I mean is this: If I have to go through the rigors of explanation for my experience of life, that is boring. Life and all its amazing moving parts has an explanation, a theory. Maybe my experience does too, but I don‘t care. I don‘t have time.

If I reduce the connectedness I feel in the world to rushes of chemicals in my brain, I will be bored and wrong. I know I will be wrong because we don‘t know what we think we know about much of anything in science. I have earned my right to say this because I work in a very applied science. All the time I encounter the unexpected. It is not magic in those moments, it is that my scope is too narrow, pointed in the wrong direction or clouded by my expectations, pretense, ego. Life is surprising, erratic.

Science often does not want to incorporate the chaotic elements in the theory because the math gets complex very quickly. But chaos is what I see all the time. Our breath is not regular and that is a good thing. We need to sigh and yawn to open up all the little air ways at the very end of the lung. Sometimes the appendix is on the left side instead of the right, and even though I can explain it, I can‘t predict it and don‘t want to.

All this to say that I am in Hana, Maui. The mist rolls down verdant hills at the base of Haleakala. It is seven in the morning. The light is golden here. The arc of Hamoa Bay ends in a perfect dark sand beach. The scent of plumeria swirls around us. Plumeria are highly unlikely flowers that grow at the end of leafless branches on trees that other wise look dead. They might be the most beautiful, fragrant flowers I have seen. Beautiful local people sat with me in the grass of a church here and told me their stories and listened to my own for two hours in the evening yesterday, hugged me like I was one of their own. I was. I am.

Maybe you would say these are all just things I have not seen and newness makes us believe in magic. It is ignorance that starts that process toward magic and then experi ence tempers us and allows truth in. Maybe. Being tempered means to be hardened, like steel. I don‘t want to be hardened. I want to stay supple, open. I want the surprise to raise the question over and over in me, like the waves rolling in to Hamoa Bay in magical Hana.

Sometimes you just want to be anywhere than where you are. Sometimes it is just nice to sit by watching as time fly’s by. Hold on tight to every minuet.

Sometimes I wish we had a real winter...

sometimes i worry that this annoys people.

sometimes i think that people think i bandy about academic buzzwords for the sake of it, or use too many semicolons.

(someone once told me not to use them at all because most people are completely clueless as to their usage.

i resented being lumped in with most people, because i do understand their usage.)

Never should love make you cry!

Ailsa: Don't tell anyone but sometimes I say too much.

Meet Ailsa. Her hands are stained by her stock outfit and her wig needs some work but that's why I got her for a nice price. I've treated her hands and arms with a 10% benzoyl peroxide gel four times and the stains are slowly fading.

Sometimes life brings us interesting twists. Featuring TwistedFetische

This guy was just hanging out on the bank of the Vltava on a very cold day. We got lucky because the sun came out. That was one of the few times it did. I'm she he appreciated it too.

Sometimes you have to get a little dirty to do the right thing. Nine of Transwestern's San Antonio ladies participated in the 2012 5K Dirty Girl Mud Run, benefiting the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The Dirty Girl Mud Run is an untimed obstacle course that encourages teamwork and bonding amoung all women.

Sometimes you look over at your sweetheart as she's sitting there in the club, taking a break from all the dancing & dancing & dancing ... and she just looks so beautiful that you can't even, and you have to take a photo because memory, even yours, is ultimately fleeting & you don't ever want to forget ...

Sometimes it just has to be black and white

all it takes is a moment,

one minute at best,

to stop the mayhem,

take a seat, and notice beauty.

it's all around us really.

The Lidl Run Kildare Events 2013 were held at the Curragh Racecourse, Newbridge, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Sunday 12th May 2013. There were three events: a 10KM, a half marathon, and a full marathon. This is a selection of photographs which includes all events. The photographs are taken from the start and finish of the marathon, the finish of the 10KM, and the finish of the half marathon. Due to the large numbers participating we did not manage to photograph everyone - which was not helped by the weather. Congratulations to Jo Cawley and her RunKildare crew for another great event. The weather didn't dampen the spirits of the many happy participants.

Electronic timing was provided by Red Tag Timing [www.redtagtiming.com/]

Overall Race Summary

Participants: There were approximately 3,000 participants over the 3 race events - there were runners, joggers, and walkers participating.

Weather: A cold breezy morning with heavy rain at the start. The weather dried up for the 10KM and the Half Marathon races

Course: This is an undulating course with some good flat stretches on the Curragh.

Can I use the photograph with the watermark?

Yes! Absolutely - you can post this photograph to your social networks, blogs, micro-blogging, etc.

How can I get a full resolution, no watermark, copy of these photographs?

All of the photographs here on this Flickr set have a visible watermark embedded in them. All of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available, free, at no cost, at full resolution WITHOUT watermark. We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. We do not know of any other photographers who operate such a policy. Our only "cost" is our request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, etc or (2) other websites, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us. This also extends the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page. If you do not know how this should be done for Facebook or other social media please email us and we will be happy to help suggest how to link to us.

Please email petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com with the links to the photographs you would like to obtain a full resolution copy of. We also ask race organisers, media, etc to ask for permission before use of our images for flyers, posters, etc. We reserve the right to refuse a request.

In summary please remember - all we ask is for you to link back to our Flickr set or Flickr pages. Taking the photographs and preparing them for online posting does take a significant effort. We are not posting photographs to Flickr for commercial reasons. If you really like what we do please spread the link around, send us an email, leave a comment beside the photographs, send us a Flickr email, etc.

If you would like to contribute something for your photograph(s)?

Some people offer payment for our photographs. We do not charge for these photographs. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would pay for their purchase from other photographic providers we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:

►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera

►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set

►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone

►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Don't like your photograph here?

That's OK! We understand!

If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

I want to tell people about these great photographs!

Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets
