Taken at Venice Beach as an alternative for a challenge, however, at another stretch it may work for my 113 Pictures! This is the, almost complete, new Sharkey's restaurant overlooking the beach.
113 Pictures in 2013 #74 Something New .....
Apologies for being behind with my comments on all your great photos - I'm afraid to say we are just having too much fun in the sun - but I will catch up with you all ASAP!
Thanks, in advance, to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... thanks to you all.
Linda from A Swap for All Seasons hosted a "Something Old, Something New..." wedding themed swap. My partner was Cathy of Treasured Heirlooms. I will let her post the pictures to the group, but wanted upload the pictures to my own file--so here they are. We had to include a wedding picture of some sort. I made an ornament with a picture of my husband's maternal grandparents as the bride and groom.
Fresh, surprising and novel. In this cake, the wedding dessert buffet meets the traditional British topiary. This cone-shaped tower of delightful desserts is an elegant white mosaic of our favorite sweets, from frosted sugar cookies to dainty petit fours to elegant-but-simple palmiers.

The Silver Coin is Old ... the Shoe is New, Borrowed and Blue ... and that about covers it.
A tabletop composition especially for the Senior Moments Creation Challenge "And A Silver Sixpence In Her Shoe".
(The coin is an 1887 US Silver Dollar which I inherited from my father, who inherited it from his father ... my grandfather was born in 1887, and was raised in the home of an aunt and uncle ... when Grandpa finished school, his Uncle Charlie gave him this coin, saying "Always keep this, Harry ... even if you don't have a penny to spend, you'll never be broke." ... Grandpa carried this with him everywhere for the rest of his days, including to his WWI duty in France and to the VA hospital where he died ... I'll never be broke!)

This morning i woke up with an unusually good feeling that today is going to be a great day. I rarely take pictures of myself but something totally made me do this.
Just recently, my ever so bestest grandpa passed away because of cancer. The thought of losing him when he was still alive but already weak made me cry so fxcking hard, it was too impossible for me to imagine myself smiling and think that everything will be alright. But as they say, people live then die. I thought i couldn't be the same person i was when Pang passed away. I imagined myself being bitter and sad for years without him watching TV, reading the papers, walking around the house, and all his usual routines.
Pang left with a happy heart, i believe. After only a week from his departure, i can't believe i'd be taking a picture of myself just woken up with this smile i couldn't imagine wearing before and after Pang left.
It's strange. He's gone but he seems to be always here, reminding us, his family that we didn't lose him.
And this morning, he made me smile and i know this day will be awesome!

sunday 17th january; postsecret #55
same old story from my last 365. the fucking prick.
today i start something new, and its called "the pill" aha.
oh god, watch me get the whole list of side effects ;)
We seldom buy new stuff. We are all about reusing everything we can. But we needed some expanded metal lath for the shower stall we are building and it's not something we see at our second-hand home remodeling haunts. So, we bought several pieces new and here it is all rolled up so we could get it home in the economical Honda car. This stuff comes in sheets about 2-feet by 8-feet and it is very, very sharp. Disclaimer: no fingers, hands or automobile interiors were harmed in the making of this photograph.
A wild and stormy west end beach. The bay is sheltered from the worst of the weather so it must have been really wild out at sea.
After this I had to go home, dry myself out and wipe all the salt from the sea spray off my camera. Great fun!

This is my first try at long exposure shooting. This one was 30 seconds. Let me know what you think.
