Something old, something new, nothing borrowed but still blue is a jeans project I'm working on at the moment. If you like more info you can find that on my blog.

"Something New" felt like a hard one to nail down. It was towards the end of the day that I was reading Keene State's paper, The Equinox, that I noticed it's publish date was today. It felt like a bit of a stretch, but with the day quickly running out I decided that this was going to be it for today.

It's an interesting pressure, this act of creating something every day - of capturing a moment every day that's tied to a theme or an idea. Looking back over this month's photos, it's changed the way I think about the days going by. It's slowed down time, stretched it out in some strange way. Maybe that's one of the reasons that I find this challenge so exciting.

Linda from A Swap for All Seasons hosted a "Something Old, Something New..." wedding themed swap. My partner was Cathy of Treasured Heirlooms. I will let her post the pictures to the group, but wanted upload the pictures to my own file--so here they are. For "Something New" I made a brooch featuring my favorite glass bead flower beads in rich pink and clear Swarovski crystal butterflies.

January 11 - New Food

Jicama is a food that I have wanted to try for a long time, so I finally bought one. I will tell you that I had no idea what to expect from this weird little 'bulb'.

I found a recipe that said after the jicama had been peeled to dice it & sprinkle it with fresh lime juice & Mexican tajin fruit seasoning. Before I did all that, I had to try a piece plain. It was crunchy like a raw potato but very sweet. I thought maybe it was related to sugar beets, but was surprised to find out that it is actually the root of a bean plant! I have to say that it was quite good both ways! I will definitely be buying more of this in the future! :)

Thinking about what one of lectures said in regards to black and white photography.. there is truth behind his statement but also tears of laughter because it was such a hilarious statement
