These here are the stems of Narcissus... one... with ATTITUDE and great nonchalance, not a care in the world... whistling???

Stems have four main functions which are:

* Support for and the elevation of leaves, flowers and fruits. The stems keep the leaves in the light and provide a place for the plant to keep its flowers and fruits.

* Transport of fluids between the roots and the shoots and blooms .

* Storage of nutrients.

* The production of new living tissue. The normal life span of plant cells is one to three years. Stems have cells called meristems that annually generate new living tissue.

Each time I think... that's it, there's only so much you can do with flowers... and yet again and again, I'll see something new.

Being creative is not a choice... it is an urge in me.

THANK you for ALL your comments and visits, so appreciated.

Have a wonderful day, filled with love and beauty, M, (*_*)

making good use of my cotton, that bag will never end, seriously.

i don't really think this is really me, but i wanted to try something new.

Good morning everyone. I thought I would share something new I learned and tried recently, which is changing or adding a different background to a pic. For the above it worked out pretty well, albeit not an easy task with my old and outdated editing software. So you'll know, I don't have photoshop or anything similar, or nearly as sophisticated.

In the comment section I posted the original untouched pic I started with of the above juvenile Cooper's Hawk (Accipiter cooperii). I also posted a pic of the background I took and used in the above. So please be sure to click on "view previous comments" if you don't see both photos in the comment section.

Once I edited the pic of the hawk I used an edge finder tool to "cut" the desired head & shoulder portion of the hawk I wanted, which I then flipped horizontally and "pasted" on the pic of the background I took. Then came the hard part which was to clone & blend away any rough edges around the hawk so it looked completely natural on the new background without any evidence of it being "cut & pasted". The cloning & blending part can be tedious, and take a fair amount of time to get done, but is a must for the pic to look half way decent.

So far this is the only pic I've used this editing technique, which is very limited to when you can use it. But it can be helpful when you have a great shot of a bird or something else against a bad background.

Thank you for stopping by...and I hope you have a truly great last day of February.

PS...below is the correct EXIF data for the pic of the bird. The camera data to the right of the caption here is for the background.

completed in 2015. The tower is 180.5 metres (592 ft) tall and has 40 floors. Tower is the tallest building in Andalusia and in the city of Seville, and the seventh tallest in Spain

I've been to this location at least a hundred times. It's crazy that I never saw this angle until yesterday. Just goes to show that there's always something new to try.

The Start of Something New

Planet Dokeia

Interplanetary Travel

And I'm on the verge of saying goodbye again. We have come to the end of another adventure together again. We still haven't found the Plunonians. Unfortunately, I have not encountered any civilization on this planet, which I have visited and named Dokeia, on which I have lived for a while. I was quite surprised that I did not encounter a civilization on this planet suitable for life. Just like the other life-friendly planets I have visited, the planet Dokeia was one of the abandoned habitable planets. Why were these habitable planets abandoned? What was the force that drove the civilizations living on it to leave these planets? These are questions that I still don't know the answers to. I have not encountered any negatives so far. When I find lost civilizations, I think I will have learned the answers to these questions. If I can find them. When I started space travel, while I was looking for a planet suitable for life, the fact that I found dozens of planets suitable for life and that they were all abandoned frightened me. What could be the power that frightened entire civilizations to leave their planets? The prospect of encountering this power in my interplanetary travels frightened me. What could I do alone in the face of the force that pushed huge civilizations to abandon their planets? In order to overcome my fears, I stop asking myself some questions. And I don't pay attention to every detail. Otherwise, my interplanetary journey might come to an end. I don't want to go back to my planet until I complete this mission I've been on.

Going back over some earlier material...nothing new at the moment. Way, Way Back to 2007....with my original 5D. This is "Chance"...the best dog of my life...I mean I have loved all the dogs in my life...and there have been many...but Chance stood out from the rest. We bonded from when he was a pup...always being in my lap...playing soccer outside...when my ex and I decided to divorce, Chance was the only thing that I asked for. He was seven...I credit him with saving me from taking my life in the early days...and then for being the companion I needed to keep me on my toes...killing groundhogs...hunting vermin...enjoying our world. Fast forward a lifetime to this photo...Chance is almost nine months from death...he knows the end is near...I feel he is almost asking me to help end it. I had Chance put down on 03/08/08 and buried him out by the dogwood tree...put a headstone on it too. There are some other pics of Chance on Flickr...I think.

Actually, I happened upon this image while looking for something else...I wept for a bit...thinking about how sad Chance was in this photo.

An Open Book by Alexandre Masino

While making a "Big Apple Deli" run for lunch this new contract switcher at the refinery caught me by surprise so naturally I had to pull off and get a shot of it drilling cars in their yard outside of the refinery. They've had a number of different switchers over the last dozen years but I wasn't aware of this one showing up. Toledo, OH 12/11/19
