Happy New Year! Photo taken for the Macro Monday “new” theme. I was having problems with my Nikon Z6 which I use for work so I had to replace it.

This was a shot that I was pretty happy with, considering it was my first phootshoot ever. Expect more to come from this shoot.

Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder

I've always wanted to try catching light trails but have never got round to it till now, possibly because the roads are so quiet where I live! I'm pleased with this as a first attempt, but I think next time I'll choose somewhere where's there's other street and building lights to give context. Any tips/advice on taking and processing gratefully received :)

I keep crossing off new birds. The Green-tailed Towhee was a real keeper.

One of the freshly rebuilt SD75Acc's heads west with a blue BC rail in tow. Its nice seeing new life being given to some of the older EMD power in CN's fleet!

Something old and something new at Kinnaird Head in Fraserburgh. The old foghorn, constructed in 1902, was a navigational aid during foggy and misty conditions until 1987 when it became redundant. Most ships now have enclosed wheelhouses, preventing a foghorn being heard. They use satellite technology and radar which work in all conditions.

The something new is the new Kinnaird Head Lighthouse which was constructed in 1991 and with its automatic light replaced the old lighthouse at Kinnaird Head.

A rare open Friday meant I needed to try something new, and after evaluating every possible option, taking a gamble in the Forest City was the most appealing. Safe to say it paid off.

we bought a Weeping Larch to plant in the front of our house... I've never heard of this plant before and we found it at Lowe's.... it was the only one and I could hear it calling me from across the isle... such a unique tree and I hope it does well in it's new home!!

When you can't go out and take your normal sunrise and sunset photos what to you do, you try something new out in your backyard. Photographing flowers using a flash.

Shore Acres State Park on the Oregon coast at Coos Bay features a garden with abundent flowers in the spring and summer. This time of year they usually feature holiday lights with some 300,000 LED lights and creative lighting displays. It was cancelled for 2020 so I put up one of my older images I had not shared at the time. These lighted crane sculptures reflect beautifully in the pool setting.

Exceptional lights and times are always to be had, this time around coming November 24 to December 31 at the Coos Bay-area park. The 2022 version of the colorful holiday favorite comes with something new: a timed entry system for visitors to park their vehicles from 4 p.m to 9 p.m.

I have this beauty of the lens for while but I never really spent some time with it. It happens all the time with people with gear acquiring syndrom (GAS). Something new comes.

But, this lens needs full attention. It is kind of unicorn in 58mm focal distance range.

Optically it is far from perfection, yet it have quite high IQ. Meaning: beautifully rich bokeh. There were no water drops in the grass. Just a gentle reflection of the sun.

Try something new!

When I got home and got a good look at this dragonfly I'd taken a picture of, I realized I'd never seen one like this before.

After doing a little research I discovered it's called a Red Saddlebag Dragonfly.

I'd never even heard of this type before!

I LOVE this hobby! I'm always learning something new!
