Got something good hiding in your stream that you never posted to Feathery Friday-now's the week to post it!

This shot was part of a Grebe series before but now it's all by itself :)

Best friends are like stars. You don't always see them, but they are always there.

I tried something new today, its not perfect, but I definitely like where its headed.

I am not sure why it says I took it with a Gopro... because I didn't

I see beauty in 'almost' everything!

Most of the times, tulips will last around 6/7 days, then the petals drop...

For some reason, these held on and just dried, shriveling, slowly withering, keeping their beauty as long as possible. I thought they looked beautiful, carefully brought them into the studio, yes, lost a few petals underway but they were clinging strongly enough, now they'll marvel FOREVER!

I gave them a last moment of glory.

I did a series of 5.

THANX for ALL your comments and visits, so appreciated, too many to be returned (sadly, however I DO try!... )

Each time I think... that's it, there's only so much you can do with flowers... and yet again and again, I'll see something new.

Being creative is not a choice... it is an urge in me.

Have a wonderful day, filled with love and thanx for your visit, M, (*_*)

Why not view the set as a slide-show?

Also I often upload more than one image at the same time, I see a tendency to only view the last uploaded...

Every time i learn or see something new my heart stops from excitement, and it gets more so with years & age 💙 Thank you #planetearth for being beautiful

A new perspective.(: I laid in the middle of the street and made sargent stay, all the while... Sargent's looking at me like "this women is trying to kill us!" Haha! But I did get a couple good shots(:

oh how I love photoshop. the water yesterday was all puke green so I had to completely change the color of it, it looks SO much better now

I was recommended to try to do a black background.....first time for me.

Birdhouses are a great way to attract wildlife to your garden space. In honor of the 4th of July holiday, Lauritzen Gardens is happy to present this wonderful exhibit of one-of-a-kind birdhouses, constructed by Richard Yost of Bellevue, Neb. Yost was inspired to build all 51 birdhouses by a birdhouse that his father made, many years ago, with scrap lumber and an old Nebraska license plate. All of the birdhouses on exhibit are decorated with various knick-knacks that represent each state.

About the artist

Birdhouse creator Rich Yost was born and raised in South Omaha, and graduated from Daniel J. Gross High School. His parents encouraged creativity, and his dad would probably be considered an original "American Picker." The family property contained many sheds, outbuildings and closets full of unusual items which had been purchased at flea markets, auctions, or garage sales. As a young lad, Rich realized the potential of turning these "interesting" items into something new and original, either as a household decoration or for outdoor art. Today, he has a large back yard full of whimsical and repurposed items and a wife who tolerates his urge to buy what many would consider junk, for use in his future projects. He hopes that you enjoy touring the United States via the birdhouse adventure as much as he enjoyed creating them.

The Beatles were advised that in order to sell records in Germany they should record in German. This album has the German language version of "I want to Hold Your Hand" "Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand" As a young fan, I can say I loved this version just as much.

The above linked video displays the lyrics as the song is sung - makes me realize how badly I mangled the German words back then.

Nothing much happening yet. The ice got very thick this winter and is still being very persistent.

Day 91/365

Caught a flue so I’ve been staying inside during the mornings and then exploring in the afternoons. I love Paris so much and it has such a rich artistic history, I feel like every direction I turn I learn something new, surfing the web and the library for information is an absolute pleasure, I feel like a sleuth, rummaging in the closets of the past.

Hope you guys like the moc so far. I think that this moc is one of my best so far IMO. Sherman is design by Max

Officially I was suppose to paint the south facing wall of our house today, weather is most excellent and only thing that interfered that work was the fact that I absolutely hate painting.... I saw a large moth outside and thought I'd take some shots of it, as I was focusing I realized I'll never be able to get everything in focus, so let's try focus stacking, which I've never tried before. That really didn't work out, might not have been the best idea to try to shoot it at 2.8 ....

Dog was soaking up some sun and I shot a couple of her. Focused on her eye and nose. Photoshop didn't manage to blend those either, probably because she moved slightly, but then I realized I could just do that manually, and I don't think I've ever done that before.

So I aligned the two layers and just painted in the nose...

I think I'll try that again some other day :-)

Week 13: new beginning. No matter what beginning it is make sure it’s a sweet one.

Something new

Once in a while things change from the everyday and someone tries something new.

If you are on top, and things are going great, this tends not to happen. So it was with some surprise that the great General Motors, leading vehicle manufacturer of the world, with more than 30% total global market share, tried something 'new'.

Having successfully built its huge empire, primarily in the US, by producing ever larger Body-on-Frame (BOF) full sized cars, exhibiting more chrome, more fin and more engine than the facing competition, it was a small (by US Standards), rear-engined, bath-tub shaped car named Corvair (after a Corvette-based concept from 1955), that showed that the big dog could learn a new trick.

The 'new' was not without precedent. In the back rooms, GM engineers were trying all sorts of interesting things, but Styling and Marketing were more than happy to fill up customer orders faster than the factory could build them. However, as the facing 'Independent' US manufacturers were in terminal decline during these early post war period, a new competitor was slowly gaining ground, not by copying GM's flash and fins, but with a little, ugly, slow car from Germany. The badge said VW, but the car was known as the 'Beetle'.

The Beetle template was straight forward: engine in the back, behind the rear axle. The engine was made of aluminium to help with the weight distribution, and featured horizontally opposed pistons to keep the engine height down. The 'chassis' was a simple platform, with the engine hung out the back by four bolts and a throttle cable. The bodywork, designed prior to the war under Adolph Hitler's close watch, wore an aerodynamic profile, grilleless nose and room for four passengers. The original brief for the car was to be capable of 100 km/h on the new Autobahns, all day long, reliably and economically. Not only was the car designed to a tight, modest brief, it was also intended to put the German populace on wheels, much the way the Ford Model T had in the US 30 years earlier.

Such a modest car was not within the 'competitive set' for any of GM's US product lines, but it was an irritating itch during a prosperous 1950s post-war America, and GM's crystal-ball readers had forecast that the economy could not continue you grow in an interrupted manner, and there would be a market for a cheaper, more modest car that wore a well-known US manufacturers badge. Ford had similarly crystal-balled this scenario, and produced the cost-focused Falcon, and similarly Chrysler with the Valiant.

Of these products though, GM was the most ambitious, and reset the US-made template.

The car: Corvair.

The Legacy: Disaster!

How could it all go so wrong?

The same drivers that led to the very modest Ford Flacon found their way into the specification of the Corvair's rear suspension. Missing the stabiliser bars of high-spec performance models, the base Corvair developed a reputation for falling off the road. The cause: rear wheel camber change under braking and cornering resulting in a loss of grip and a tendency to swap ends. This fault had led to many fatal crashes, including some high-profile cases. The cause was taken up by a young consumer rights advocate, Ralph Nader, and the Corvair was the feature act in his book 'Unsafe at any speed'. By this stage, the Corvair had evolved into the second generation model, illustrated here, with updated suspension. The die was already cast however, the Corvair name ever to be tarnished. A 'burned' GM withdrew from adventurous engineering and followed Ford's more conventional path with the Chevy II / Nova / Camaro models which had the traditional front-enginened rear-wheel-drive layout within a compact unibody design.

Unfortunately this legacy has overshadowed the advancements present in the Corvair: Independent suspension, the turbocharger, aluminium engine and monocoque construction. Not only that, but the second generation cars looked stunning - clean, chromeless, light - the very antithesis of what Detroit was becoming.

By the end of production of the Corvair in 1969, Detroit had moved on. The second invasion was beginning with the entry of Japanese cars into the US markets, and Detroit's long decent had begun.

The beautiful little gem of the Corvair remains within classic car collector clubs to remind us of a time with the GM juggernaut would be proactive, do something new and provide the motoring world with something special.

These two Chevrolet Corvette, a hardtop coupe and convertible have been built for Flickr LUGNuts' 69th build challenge "Summer of '69" celebrating vehicles built during the 1960s. The Lego models feature horizontally opposed rear Lego technic piston engines, independent front and rear suspensions, and opening doors, bonnet (hood) and rear engine cover.
