Soapbox Race Differdange

On Constitution Avenue, by the Capitol

As long as I'm on my soapbox...

I'll never understand why, when we pay garbage pick up fees, people will spend the money on gas and time wasted to go into the countryside and dump trash. I live in poor white trash country. Is it the same where you live?

This was taken over the side of a bridge, out in the country. Every single piece of trash that you see there would have been picked up at the curb by the garbage collection co.

I wonder sometimes, if a few hundred thousand years from now, Geologists will study the strange layer of plastics in the Earth's crust that will signify the 20th and 21st century.

Together with our two boys I spent a lot of time to build a car for each one of them. The Soapbox Race organised by the Youth Center www.judiff.lu in Differdange since 17 years

A stunning male Nullarbor Bearded Dragon puts on an impressive threat display. Taken on a Canon EOS 5D DSLR coupled to a vintage Contax Carl Zeiss 60/2.8 C/Y Makro Planar T* 1:2 lens with a Leitax adapter.

Tripod, manual metering, manual focus and a multi-flash set-up utilized. Taken fully stopped-down @ f.22 & 1/80th sec.

I can not tell you why the 1970 Opel calender featured a photo of a downhill soapbox race, nor what Opel imagined to gain with it. I can only see the Opel name on the wheels of the two orange or yellow vehicles. Maybe the sons of an Opel executive participated, Opel sponsored and the boys had to appear in the calander.

What I wonder is, does this kind of racing still exist today? Or has it disappeared althogether because it is not fashionable in our Playstation and X-Box years anymore to participate?

First Official Soapbox Competition in Bulgaira

One of my favorite Summer events. Bigger crowd this year... and more crashes. Lighting was difficult with the sunshine, but I liked how the dappled light on the road and in the trees came out on this one.
