Smooth rays are known to charge divers in a bit of a territorial display of authority. It's happened to me before but this was full on! After i saw this guy from the surface, i descended into about 9 m of water. I lay flat on the bottom, and it charged straight for me. I stayed motionless, holding my ground and trying not to move a muscle. It was a game of chicken, (but with a ray) and no one was backing down. I thought it would approach closely, and then veer away at the last moment , but no...it went straight over the top of me....a 2 metre wide mass 'breathing' down on me as it passed over me lying on the ground. One hell of an encounter! We became quiet good friends over the next 20-30 minutes as he continued to do close inspections...none as close as this first one though.

One of several nice touches along the Cheonggyecheon. Truly a beautiful stream that's a great place for a stroll any night, but especially when there's an amazing array of lanterns on display.
All of my hubs in the collection are stripped and have replacement cones, bearings and even the steel insert inside of the hub if necessary. They all run wickedly smooth although I have to admit to using one or two non period axle parts here and there.
Noticed this lettering engraved into the stone under one of the bridges along the River Kelvin in the West End, "smoothed rock". Beautifully done lettering, but I have no idea why it is there! But it caught my eye and with the sunlight and shadows on the stone I thought it deserved a quick black and white shot

"Smooth" is a collaboration between Latin rock band Santana and Rob Thomas of the rock group Matchbox Twenty. The song was written by Thomas and Itaal Shur, sung by Thomas, produced by Matt Serletic… became a massive hit in 1999… It was the first chart-topping song in Carlos Santana's long-running career (his previous biggest hit being "Black Magic Woman", which peaked at number four in 1971).
On Billboard magazine's rankings of the top songs of the first 50 years of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, "Smooth" was ranked as the number-two song overall (behind only "The Twist) and the number-one rock song in the history of the chart.

And up he goes. I'd say this guy was one of the more proficient skaters I saw at the weekend, and one of the more senior ones too no doubt.
Long exposure with welding glass attatched. 477 second exposure ( approx 8 mins ) F/11. Tripod and wired remote lead. Oh yes and WET SHOES :)
This is the first aster I've had a chance to photograph as we head toward fall when most aster species bloom. There are several blue asters that can be confusing with subtle differences distinguishing one from another. I believe this one is the Smooth Aster.

My current foster girl. She is SUCH a sweetie!!! She is available for adoption! She is a 1 yr old AKC special needs female Smooth Collie. She completed a basic obedience class. She was born nearly blind but still plays and is loving life! She has been playing with my guys like crazy. She is amazingly adaptable! A very affectionate and fun-loving girl. Housetrained and very well mannered. Up to date on vaccines, etc.
