Apparently, Smashing Magazine doesn't understand the meaning of All Rights Reserved... I'm really torn because I'm honored to be featured in the article (update: which did link back to my flickr page) and I appreciate the publicity (+9K views) but they didn't even ask for my permission and they have ads up the yin yang bringing them money off of the work of others. What do you guys think?
While we're on the subject, "Why your images are worthless" is a great article about the "price-reduction spiral [of photography] that goes almost all the way down to free" and some strategies you can use if you want to try to eek out a living. I particularly like the first one: "Be the best" =D
one of my "peace core " posters was published in smashing magazine's "breathtaking typographic posters/ article, alongside other awe inspiring posters by amazing designers.
Since the concept was dreams for this project I decided to base it on a series of dreams I had when I was back home. The flat, blue ocean is something I often dreamt about when I lived near it in Mexico. The birds are the ones I saw every day from my terrace and the person jumping is me in those dreams. What I am trying to transmit in this photomontage is the need for freedom every individual yearns for and how, like in Gabriel García Marquez's "One Hundred Years of Solitude", we catch an insomnia that makes life painless yet we are left without memory. This metaphor of life showing how being so busy leaves us in a zombie like state that we begin to forget who we are and what makes us who we are, is being expressed by the three women sleeping and the cold, rigid walls. As she enters into the world of dreams she encounters color, birds, a free man, and a naked woman exploring the ocean. Here, nudity also expresses that freedom.

Got the brand new Smashing Book 2 in the mail today. I'm really looking forward to read it since I've ordered a copy for myself on the first day it was announced.
My version of a tutorial in Smashing Magazine which can be found at www.smashingmagazine.com/2009/02/22/space-explosion-photo...
I'm excited to have my work included in this month's Smashing Magazine desktop wallpaper blog post!! (And no, this is not an April Fools joke!) My wallpaper is the eighteenth listed in the blog post, so visit the link if you want to download the wallpaper in different resolutions (there's also a no-calendar version).
I chose autism as the subject of my wallpaper, since it's Autism Awareness Month, and since it's a topic I care about. There's no denying that autism creates a lot of struggles for those who are on the spectrum (those with autism, Asperger Syndrome, etc), but some people find that it adds a lot to their lives as well. Those on the spectrum get absorbed in things--whether circles or flying, animals or strip malls--and see magic and wonder in them that others don't. So I wanted to use a quote which, I feel, captures that side of autism. For more info on autism, check out Autism Speaks or Autism Society.
