Hi I've decided to take up the challenge set by Jad Limcaco at www.smashingmagazine.com/2009/12/22/design-something-ever... and design something everyday . To start with I'm going to be doing some covers for fictional albums using the rules listed at 365albumcovers.tumblr.com/. All comments are very welcome.

This is the first of my pictures that I started to work up in Photoshop (still learning). I needed to start to understand how I could push, change, enhance(?), control my original shots. I got all my guidance and tips from this great Smashing Magazine article.

For this image in particular I wanted to try out a 'lomography' style. I like the 'lomo' look and though the yellow in this image would work well. This Look Like Lomo article provided great guidance.

The shot was taken at around 6am in the morning. It was my first day in Australia and I had bad jet lag. I went out to explore the beach, at sunrise, and the lifeguard was just setting up his station.

A poster by Polish Artist Henryk Kunzek entitled Forward, circa 1910. Really strong Ivan Bilibin meets Art Nouveau typography here, clearly the product of a certain era. I've no clue what the text says but I'm really digging the lack of word spaces.

Valentine's wallpaper I did for the Smashing Magazine Wallpaper Calendar for Februrary. Lots of sizes with and without calendar can be downloaded here: www.smashingmagazine.com/2013/01/31/desktop-wallpaper-cal...

Got the brand new Smashing Book 2 in the mail today. I'm really looking forward to read it since I've ordered a copy for myself on the first day it was announced.

See it on behance for more views and closeups.

Just a bit of Christmas fun with the birds Pipita and Milo. This time with a new (still nameless) character: the magpie stole all the Christmas cookies Pipita just made and of course she’s angry at Milo (as usual). Have a fun Christmas (and watch out for cookie thiefs!;))!

You can download the wallpaper in a lot of sizes (with and without calendar) on Smashing Magazine.com: www.smashingmagazine.com/2011/11/30/desktop-wallpaper-cal...

this picture actually won
