Φ (Phi)is the 21st letter of the Greek alphabet. In modern Greek, it represents [f], a voiceless labiodental fricative. In Ancient Greek it represented [pʰ], an aspirated voiceless bilabial plosive.

It represents, among other things, the golden ratio 1.618 in mathematics, art, and architecture.

"A sentinel of clay and dust, observing lives in quiet trust. It does not speak, it does not flee, yet sees the things we fail to see."

Yesterday at a friend's place .... this little piglet was sitting on this box. So funny. She also told us that sometimes it falls over while she's hoovering and she only notices it a few hours later when sitting down on the sofa.

Thuidium tamariscinum

Very soft fern like and delicate moss. It shines this time of year when the forest is no longer a blast of green!

Son esas pequeñas cosas las hacen que valga la pena vivir.

Don't think your going to get close without that mumma cat pouncing on you! She's like stay away from my precious babies :-) This was a stray cat who was pregnant. My kindhearted sister-in-law took her in to have her babies. To date, all the babies have been adopted through Petsave and the mom is now there waiting for a good home. I hope she gets adopted as whe is a lovely mild mannered kitty. If you are interested, you can find this cat through this website:http://www.smallthings.ca/

An angry Ant on the lookout

if there’s one thing that I’ve noticed

out of all the things I’ve seen

it’s that you can leave a footprint

in a place you’ve never been

and there’s barely time to look around

before you have to leave

and a mark upon the skin

is not enough to make you bleed

if there’s one thing that I’m keeping

out of all the things I’ve found

it’s that the best way to be heard sometimes

is not to make a sound

and the things we want the most

fetch not a penny nor a pound

and all it takes to find your feet

is just to stand your ground

if there’s one thing that I’m sure of

out of all the things I know

it’s that you can keep on going fast

I’ll still be going slow

and falling’s not that hard

when you’re starting out so low

and drowning’s not that bad

if you breathe and just let go

breathe and just let go…

(the wasted and the used things

the broken and abused things

all these small things

the treasured and the sacred things

the lost and the forsaken things

all these small things)

in memory. A year goes so fast. Yet so slow.

I have many shelves I call “small things shelves.” Dracula has been working tirelessly to add all of our found on the ground, or in the bottoms of dusty cardboard boxes at flea markets, or corners of antique stores. I think this was the last bag of things so hopefully on a good light day I’ll switch out lenses so I can get a little closer and snap some pictures of the collection of tiny little things.

Love all of God's creations, both the whole and every grain of sand.

Love every leaf, every ray of light.

Love the animals, love the plants, love each separate thing.

If you love each thing, you will perceive the mystery of God in all

-Fyodor Dostoevsky

This is a small leaf between the finger and thumb of a small boy taken with a camera with a small lens.

"The joys of life are hidden in small things,

No one knows the happiness a tiny moment brings,

The slightest of a gesture of love,

Takes us to the seventh heaven and above...

These are the things that make life beautiful,

Lived once and remembered always as wonderful!"

Shreya Koppaka

Life's little things that we rarely see or ever stop to look at, unless you have a macro lens and go pottering about your mothers garden out of boredom.

Observations:

This moss is normally a brilliant green and was a few weeks ago.

We are in a really dry spell and I noted that the moss was brown.

Reading up on Moss, it does go dormant in dry spells.

One of the easiest way to get interesting pictures is to get a macro lens and point it to something small.

The world of panoramic is big. But I can tell you one thing. The world of macro is even bigger than it.

The small snowdrop is the sign of early spring and it is my favorite subject this time of the year.

Have a great start of the week!

This is my shot taken at Queen Elizabeth Park yesterday with the 105mm macro lens. Let's take out all our macro lens and do the "first come first shoot" in spring!
