The myriad aster-like flowers that grow in the midwest are nigh impossible to tell apart; even my trusty Peterson's wildflower book says it's not going to show me how to do it, because it's too complicated and doesn't matter to anyone but botanists anyhow.
So I won't try. Hence 'Asteroids' as my general term for these yellow-centred, fuzzy-white-ringed, standing-chest-high volunteer plants.
This is it!
There are still lots that can be improved but for now, I'm happy with the result :)
Better in black.

i noticed this beetle on the firetrail yesterday when i was walking the dogs .. i thought it was a wood beetle but after doing a bit'v research i think its a weevil .. lifeunseen ..
as soon as i got down to his level he flipped himself over so he lay on his back .. it was quite annoying .. i didnt want to take a pic of an insect that looked dead ..
so i picked him up and put him on his legs again .. but he kept flipping himself over onto his back .. was able to put him on a piece of wood where i got the shot of him facing the camera .. he only let me get a couple of shots before he flipped himself over and fell off .. !!..
anyway .. it must be their behaviour when they feel threatened to look like they're dead ..:)
they matter, don't they? the smiley faces on our coffee cups this morning made a difference...i did get a free coffee out of it too.
this is day 72 of 365 days of pictures. March 13, 2011.
Yup, this is the third attempt, there is no presentable photos from the second one (let's not go there.... I'm still trying to forget that even happened.....)
Had to give the splash another try. This time is water with fresh raspberries.
By the time I got a decent one, the sun already sunk behind the fence so the lighting's totally off...... When I looked through the photos, I really like this one, notice the one raspberry that didn't make it in the cup? :)

nah, I have no idea why she's doing that with her fingers, but she enjoyed her apple slices with "fangs"
What could it be? Dunno - but the girls seemed to enjoy the evening - even without pressies, eh? ;oD
