RODS on the BLUFF - Friday night cruise - Riverview Ca

There are beetles in Hungary at every corner, this one is parking in Budapest.

See where this picture was taken. [?]

Becoming rarer and rarer...

Gave this set to my Mom as a Christmas Gift a few years back as she has a VW Bug and it finally got built over the last few days by my wife.

It's been there for several weeks. I finally decided to stop and shoot it on my ride home.

One of the perks of visiting Germany is the opportunity to randomly stumble across an exclusive New Beetle event hosted by VW.

We saw the new bug parked in the middle of a cobble stone lot, and thought it was parked out there for promotional purposes. So I walked up to it, peered inside, snapped some photos...

Only when we walked away did we realize that we were in fact interupting some sort of commercial shoot.

There was a videographer filming the car while a guy in a suit got in it, and drove it back and forth, up and down the street.

Next door was what appeared to be a temporary building put up just for the New Beetle launch. Lots of well dressed, good-looking individuals were present, mingling among Beetles new and old. Too bad I didn't have my fake Rolex on me. Maybe it would have gotten me a business card.

The weather is finally warming up so I plan on getting out more with my camera, this past winter was brutal.

Camera used was a Pentax K100D, lens used was a manual focus M42 Yashica Yashinon DS-M 50mm 1.4 at f2 or 2.8.

RAW converted on a Mac in Apple Aperture, then fine tuned in Adobe Photoshop.

Guess the year of this Bug -

Seconds later I caught this guy pounding a PBR before the light turned red. Unfortunately that photo didn't really turn out.

Shot at a red light from my car.

That's my dad - wearing a Vietnam Vet hat and a "Don't mess with Texas" shirt while visiting a Buddhist temple in Japan with his 1974 VW bug.

Of course it faces the windshild when I'm driving...... :-)

my sister used to yell "Slugbug!" whenever she saw a classic VW Beetle like this.

Believe me, I realize, this is weird and perhaps only interesting to the nerdiest of my flickr friends, definitely not a "warm puppy", but I love it, so whoop, there it is! LOL!

Slugs are fascinating to me. Those top antennae looking parts are basically their eyes. They sense light, and the ones below sense odors, so those are basically it's nostrils.

Slugs are hermaphrodites, so they have both male and female reproductive organs, however they mate with each other, so it's not like they can procreate all on their own.

Not sure if you can see it, but there are little dark dots on those upper antennae looking bits, which look like the pupils of their cool eyes/light sensing parts. I am dorkily fascinated by all life forms, especially us humans! LOL!

Slugs are not really bugs, they are gastropod molluscs, but I put them in my bug set anyway. I doubt I will ever have enough photos of gastropod mollucs to create a set, but then never say, never, LOL!

Hugs and thanks for viewing! =o)

Blue because it's my favorite color (& it matches my car). Yellow because it's Mellow (& girly). ;-)

I saw him coming up in my rear view mirror - My camera was in my wifes purse ( not good) She freeks out when I shoot and drive . You can see my next shot will be risky . The car in front of me has his brake lights on and I have to speed up to catch Karman . Lucky for me he was just slowing down and not stoping . ( Local Sighting )

"Arecaceæceæceæceæceæceæceæceæceæceæ," I yodeled or ululated from across the street, but it being Las Vegas, nobody seemed to notice.

An ancient brown car seems like a dangerous tailgater. "It's a big wide street & people can spread out!" I bellowed.

Why? Because I was there with a camera and I had a few minutes to kill.

I have been seeing a slug crawling up the garage door each night as I pull in. Last night, there were TWO racing upwards (very slowly.)

Caught in my headlights as they raced upwards to, uhh, what?

Enjoy the view.

You don't have to touch them. I'm not. This is true slime. I don't know if anything is more slimy than these creatures.

Ugh...

Went to the car show today and captured this beauty while there. I hope to one day own one, until then I will just photograph them. This was a 1972 I believe. I seen so many of them that I can not recall which are which but I think this is a 72, I love the color. The only thing better would have been if the cars were not parked so close together so a photographer could easily get better photos of the cars. :-)
