Oh the fun things you see simply driving down an Oklahoma road! This critter stood proudly overlooking a VW salvage yard back in the day. It now lurks about on the side of highway 77 in Lexington, Oklahoma. The spider was built in 1979 by Leroy Wilson.

The backside of the Bug. A 1974 VW ratted out Beetle that sat in the Olathe South High School parking lot during the Olathe Police car show.
A shot from me recent trip across the state of Texas. The "slug bug ranch", a homage to the nearby cadillac ranch but with volkswagen bugs instead.

Vintage VW that appeared at the 2022 Ol' Marais River Run Car Show held at Forrest Park in Ottawa Kansas. Never saw the movie, looked it up, hopefully the driver of this VW was able to navigate his ride back home.

My daughter plays this really annoying game in the car, apparently invented when I was a child in the 1960s and revived around 2009 by an advertising campaign, in which every time she sees a Volkswagen Beetle she calls out Punch Buggy while hitting me in the shoulder. While I am driving. She immediately adds No Punch Backs--I suppose to indicate I am not permitted to deck her in retaliation. I read in Wikipedia that sometimes yellow and orange beetles merit a double punch as the player calls out Punch Buggy Cheddar. That must be in the UK and in Wisconsin. I think my daughter does something similar when she says Double Punch Buggy but I haven't learned when the double punch is warranted. I also read that sometimes the phrase Slug Bug is used instead. I wonder if this game is played only in English speaking countries, or whether there are variants in different languages. Also I can't wait until my daughter learns to drive so I can return years of torment.
