just meat, potato, carrot, onion, celery, garlic & stock....8 hours later....the most delicious comfort food =) i forgot to take after shots...it smelled so good we just ate!
One jar of chicken stock (2 cups) and a bowl of leftover bones & veggies that were strained out. There's more broth currently chilling in the freezer (poured into silicon muffin pan wells to freeze into servings), maybe another 2 cups worth.
Cooking makes me feel like a mad scientist.
For the new year we looked at air-fryers, induction and convection ovens and slow cookers and the slow cooker won! The thing with air-fryers is that they are expensive, more expensive to use and are not very flexible and the ovens are not economic to use at all. Slow cookers on the other hand are relatively inexpensive, very economical to run and are far more flexible. 2p an hour in comparison with 50p for our main oven, 30p for our hob, 45p for an Air-fryer and at the same time we can cook 3.5l of curries, soups and casseroles! We had a slow cooker once but the bowel was dropped, but it made the best Dhal, Chana and soups and stews ever! In with the ingredients, switch it on and when we come home from a walk a few hours later, delicious bowel of steaming loveliness, bon appetit!
This season we will mostly be cooking Dhal Samba!

What is it:Crockpot Indian Chicken Curry Recipe (the image above is after I poured the puree back into the pot)
Recipe from:Stephanie O'dea's blog crockpot365.
It still came out liquidy. So I pureed the cooked veggies with the broth/coconut milk-spices mix. It is the only way my husband would eat his veggies. This time around with all the additions I made, it came out DELICIOUS! Still needed a little more salt and cayenne pepper. I like it spicy.

Today I used the crock pot for the first time and made Marianne's slow cooked black bean soup. This is what I came home to. And it smelled SO GOOD. (blogged.)
And it's on the plate! I'm not sure how I took this picture, knowing how hungry I was. And yes, that's actually part of a fake plant and was lying on the kitchen nearby. Note that the meal's pretty much just one color...I'll see about adding something else next time.
Oh, bed of white rice. :3
Found a recipe for crockpot stuffing. Too easy! I think having fresh thyme and sage made it especially delicious!
Dangerously easy in the slow-cooker, and now I have two cups of seasoned, rendered pork fat that I'm not sure what to do with.
And there they go! All the ingredients thrown into the pot. I thought there wouldn't be enough broth at first, and was worried about the potatoes drying out or something (hey, it's my first time with the slow cooker, give me a break), and the white stuff on the pork is actually coconut oil (versus the olive that the recipe called for) because a) Paleo says it's better for you (?) and b) there was no more olive oil.

Inspired by my favorite drink at my favorite local coffee shop I came up with a drink I like even better and can serve to a crowd!
